Repost!

Thousands of men marched into the city on this day,

Bomb upon bomb, yet no explosion.

Shots fired in the dark night, yet no casualties.

Seen a rebellion, but no invasion.

People lived through the occupation to turn in a few bucks.

The guys in the south have their toons and flicks,

but here, it's like the real thing.

What was this day?

Happened during World War 2 (1939-1945).

Happened in L'Amerique du Nord.

Not really a celebration.

I guess Canada

Battle of the Plains of Abraham?

Also I have this, it's not technically a riddle but I bet you'll have a hard time figuring it out.

I call this one "There's Water in all but the Seas"

It's an icy place where people freeze

There's a constantly oily breeze

Days sixteen times too slow

Islands come and they go

And there's water in all but the seas

Guess where that might be. Whoever gets this right gets a medal.

Has a specific name.

BIG Hint!

Happened in the middle of the country.

What was this day?

Line 1: A large number of actors dressed as German soldiers marched into Winnipeg on IF Day

Line 2: There where fake bombings as part of the 'battle'.

Line 3: Of course the 'Germans army' and the Canadian army shot at each other, but with blanks.

Line 4: Winnipeg has seen the Louis Riel rebellion. I guess Western settlers moving into First Nations territory could count as an invasion

Line 5: IF Day was just a huge propaganda campaign to convince Canadians to buy Victory Bonds.

Line 6: Refers to the U.S. making cartoons and movies about WW2.

Line 7: Describes how IF Day was like an actual German invasion of Winnipeg

Line 8: Filler

*Slaps forehead* You've gotta be kidding me. That one ran by me so many times, yet I figured it wasn't right. *Stabs self*

EDIT: Assuming the riddle he posted before, I guess Titan.

EDIT: Yeah, it totally is. Titan all the way. I'm getting your wordplay... Even if it's not, it still is.

Aye, it would be a good idea to keep riddles to what could be reasonably construed to be common knowledge. In-depth things or details from world wars or other things from 20-50+ years ago are pretty far from common knowledge these days.

I mean, those more intellectually-oriented riddles are fun and all in their own way, but it does sort of kill the thread. If you like making those kinds of riddles, I think it best to just post them (in spoilers) with a note for anyone who wants a crack at them to PM you and take it on in their own time. This is supposed to be a fun game, not a riddle war. :)
