Welcome to the Kerbal Powers Board game created by me and Camulus777. You play the game by achieving goals and using earned points as a budget for National Security or for Scientific Endeavours. The goals of the game will be Updated as companies get farther into Aerospace and Space. As in any game there will be rules and if you have a problem with a rule message me or Camulus777 and we'll take a vote with other companies on what to do with the rule. In this game CHEATING WILL HAVE CONCEQUENCES!!!

-NO ROLEPLAYING

-Arctic areas are Neutral and cannot be armed

-All craft must be stock

THE RULES

Rules and game mechanics have been changed to Comply with non RP rule even more so that there is a clear distinction.

First off welcome to the Kerbal Powers Board Game, a game designed to allow players to prove their ability at designing and implementing in-game missions and be rewarded for uniqueness, quality of craft, and mission ingenuity. KSP style turn based combat will also be a part of the mechanics but the game will not be centered around blowing up what others create. Simply put, the most aggressive player might not be the player with the best score. So keep that in mind before you plot the invasion of the player next to you. This game will be played with stock parts and no Mechjeb or mods of any kind unless specifically added by the Game Leadership. The only plugin you will need is HyperEdit-1.2.4.2_for-KSP-0.21.1 for placing vehicles and such during battles, and maybe for some mission types.

Rule 1. Follow all Forum rules and guidelines.

Rule 2. No Roll Playing (Defined as referring to your county/company/alternate entity in the 3rd person.) You play the game as who you are on the forum, and it is to be played as a board game not a tabletop RPG. I know this is a forum rule but we just want to be clear about this.

Rule 3. No mention of politics in regards to your county/company/alternate entity or in real life (Yet another forum rule we want to show our support for). For example you are not a Communist, Dictatorship or a Benevolent Democracy, or a Federal Republic. You are you. This kinda goes with the no RP in rule one but I'm just covering this base now because it can lead to fear, anger, hate, and then suffering and that is the path to the dark side.

Rule 4. If you have any problems with another player, personal message either Camulus777 or The Fleet Master and we will listen to both sides of the story and decide the appropriate action to take. If the problem is with us then tough luck... Just kidding jest let the other know and PM then that you think that Camulus777 or The Fleet Master is a piece of crap and should be drawn and quartered. If its with both of us PM either of us and we will discuss the matter in private civilly. Do not argue on the thread about in game actions please and be kind to one another.

Rule 5. Please keep the off-thread topics down to a minimum. If you have something cool to say and think that all should know, that is fine, also if you have something on topic to post and wish to edit something slightly off topic within the same post that is fine as well, as long as posts are moving the game forward.

Rule 6. Thread admin's ruling is law, again if you don't like it, we will discuss privately. This includes audit decisions, combat rulings, and rule changes.

Alpha v 0.0.1 Rules and Game Mechanics

Setup

  • Each player will begin the game with 100 Kerbitz (points).

  • Every (real world) day no matter the state of the Players Nation, each player will be able to send out another mission to control a hex and will get 25 Kerbitz for each successful mission. All Hexes in their territory must be obtained first before other out side are gained. Also this is restricted to Kerbin for now.

  • Each player begins the game at Tier 0 and has to complete the challenges listed in order to get to the next Tier level. Why even try you ask? Well you will get more Kerbitz the higher your Tier level. Note that this does not include parts, all players may build with all the parts of the stock game.

Actions in Game

Each player may only place one Structure per day and my be involved in up to two battles at the same time.

Kerbitz

Kerbitz are the basically your score the player with the most is the current leader.

Mission Challenges

-Mission Challenges are listed for players to advance their Territory's Tier level and gain bonus Kerbitz and Mission Tokens.

-Other Mission Challenges posted may be posted when in game events arise. These Mission Challenges may be due to a seasonal event or posted on a whim. -All Mission Challenges will have an added bonus prize for the best mission report and the best design posted. There will probably be a special thread created for these votes. Winners of these contests will get extra stuff ;).

(Example: The mission is to land a rover on the Mun Max Part Count 100 total. For completing this mission you will receive 2 extra Mission Tokens and 100 Kerbitz. Also the winner of the Mission Contest will get 50 Kerbitz. The voting will be tallied by Saturday the X at 12:00 PST.)

Your Persist File

It is recommended that you keep a persist file with all your achievements and such just to know what you have up. During some challenges you may be required to run a cooperative mission with another country and both will have a part to play. If your Persist gets corrupted or you some how loose it and all other copies, or an update of KSP renders all previous saves obsolete then go on the Players Log Thread listed at the bottom for information on achievements and structure placement. Then Hyperedit those structures in as needed. To prevent the loss of your persist file save it on a cloud service, a hard disk (DVD or CD), several different places on your computer, or memorize it and retype it.

Player to Player Relations

Alliances with other players are fine as well as buying or trading in game items, charity to other players in the form of Kerbitz or Mission Tokens may be regulated slightly if it becomes exploited to often. Also you can not give someone you Tier Level. Selling units no matter the tier level difference is acceptably as long as it is not being counted toward a challenge or achievement. So no sending a buddy to the Mun for dirt cheap so that he can get ahead in Tier. He may buy a unit there though.

Final and Most Importantly

If you are looking over these rules and game mechanics for a loophole, an exploit, a semantic fracture, stop now! Because when it comes up, and you point out the small inconsistency after attempting it, I will come down upon you like a Rod From God on a secret camp in the middle of the desert on an election day. To clarify that is very hard. :) If you point it out to one of us privately in a PM, and don't just ask if you can use said exploit, you will get the ever so valuable brownie points. These points may be redeemable for prizes in the future. "Contest rules subject to change points and prizes may not be redeemed for cash, void where prohibited."

Hold on i still have to type up the rules and Its not the entire area you get right off the bat. ;)

Ok just to let you all know this is not just a combat oriented game and as the thread hosts we will be issuing challenges and competitions for points. KSP ground space and naval combat will take place when two individuals wish to challenge each other for extra points. The rules will be up on Friday morning.

Spartwo, This isn't your thread, I can kick you if you do something highly unreasonable just because you don't want to share, Remember wars have Consequences now and cost points.

What?! Does that mean if he begin a war with me i lose points?

Sharing you guys don't have to split the area, We're trying to avoid this as it creates more Nations and a benefit to sharing a nation is points are shared between the two companies, So make nice. The war means it costs points to Build a army and move that army around, Also the losing side has to give up territory and points.
