[1.8-1.12] Extraplanetary Launchpads v6.99.0

Just a thought...

I want to create a self building base. 

My thought was to land (by sky crane?) a single part.  It contained everything needed to build a base with no kerbals. The catch is that the part is an ELDisposablePad. Would it be able to complete the build?  Has anyone tried this?

So... i tried to create a self building base with what @JadeOfMaar referred to as a sacrificial EL drone.  It was a single part with all resources needed for  a build,  it also had the disposable pad and the constructor drone modules.  But it didn't disappear.  I assume that this is because EL won't destroy the workshop part?

@taniwha please may I receive some guidance, it would be appreciated!

Why would EL destroy the workshop part? It destroys only the micro-pad. My guess is @JadeOfMaar may have meant you'd recycle the seed parts later.

It's intentional this time. @theJesuit wants a self-consuming EL drone ship, a bootstrap that gets scuttled and added to the the child vessel when it is far enough along at being built.

As @JadeOfMaar suggested.  I realise that Global Construction does this kind of but i was looking for a more adaptable solution.

In the end I'll be providing the colony part, people will find some way of getting it to where they want.  Currently i have it sitting at 350 tons...

I hadn't thought of recycling the drone in.  That's a less elegant solution...  But if that was a case  the it could be a way of getting the 'colonists' into the base from their 'taxis'.  However it would also make EL a dependency along with MoarKerbals.

@taniwha Is it possible that you could incorporate the models from this mod (Keridian Dynamics) into Extraplanetary Launchpads? Both the creator and adopter are M.I.A at the moment and from the looks of things (creative commons license) they would probably be okay with integration into the actual current version of EL. The animations may be a little difficult to get working but I would be happy with just having the updated parts even if the animations don't work, which I think could be doable with just a few MM patches

The new ground tether is exciting.  I can see the potential for this part or the part module being the foundation of a base that is then constructed off of it.  The part could also be expanded through a simple rescale patch and have a construction module added to it.

The EL ship needs to be a resource tanker. The numbers in yellow in the EL window are what your built ship is expecting but cannot be met because the numbers to the right of them (how much the EL ship is holding) are less than or 0. The RocketParts resource only means "rocket parts." It does not suggest that it translates into fuel too.

When you say "resource tanker" are you saying that the EL ship should have liquid fuel, oxidizer, electric charge, monopropellant, etc?

You've probably got this question before, but are there any plans to update the actual models used by the parts in the mod currently? The mod itself is great but I think we can agree the parts themselves need a graphical update at some point.
