Best "Space Station" mods.

In stock KSP, pretty much the only two practical applications of Space Stations is:

1.Fuel depots

2.teh lulz

It is likely that one or more parts will be added to the game to allow the players to set up some sort of laboratory, either in orbit or on other bodies, in version 0.23. But for now, the idea of constructing an orbiting complex, for whatever reason, is rather shallow and does not have much purpose.

What mods have you seen that added some kind of functionality to space stations?

Both basically let you produce science from a station; though balancing is an issue as you can produce pretty much unlimited science.

And about qustion, what are stations for - can you name some real life (teoretical) usages of stations?

Outside refueling and sience all i cant think of is tourism and meeting point for interplanetary ships and earth/kerbal shuttles.

They're all good, but the FusTek mod looks very nice. (never used it though)

Soviet pack has MiR. Real nice piece. Fun to assemble in orbit too.

Kosmos is alright, Fustek Expansion is good, there is an ISS in the works between many of the major modders, and stations are for long term science work in space. (For now)

There are not a lot of mods that add functionality to space stations, but the KOSMOS mod by CBBP, Normak and NoMrBond, FusTek Karmony by Fusty and FusTek Station Parts Expansion by Sumghai are all great for building beautiful stations. The KSP Interstellar mod also adds a Science Lab that can be used for bases and space stations, which slowly generates Science over time.
