Non-government space program.

Privately owned or government funded, I think it's the first time a global cooperation effort would be necessary to achieve the scientific and technical breakthroughs needed, rather than a war. Our world became industrial mostly during WWI, and rockets were invented during WWII. But no company or governement today could sustain a space mining/colonization effort, especially after another world war. And if we don't start exploiting space ressources real soon, ours are gonna deplete faster and faster...

I don't say the privatisation of space is the solution for a brighter future, because if we need a super-industrial-goverment complex, I don't know if we must be hopefull or terrified about the future ^_^" . But we need private companies to go into space for money, to create space-jobs, space-industries and space-houses! (ok i'll stop using the word space).

Until we have a Star-Trek society where money doesn't exist, its profit that will drive us to the stars. Lets just hope it won't be the only reason...
