irl, yes, but pretty sure you just can't cut it off completely in ksp with RF

EDIT: And before you say it, I've tried many many times to build a rocket / ascent profile that doesn't have some amount of coasting through the atmosphere after MECO and I've just never been able to do it.

I almost always am using PEG so never happens for me; it keeps on with more or less constant thrust until orbit is established (scaled up Kerbin; PEG may not work so well on stock Kerbin with typical stock engine setups)

It's a guidance program that steers the rocket into orbit taking into account thrust levels and delta-V of all stages. It'll keep firing the engines at constant thrust and throttle (unless there are throttle limits such as for Q or max acceleration and minimum throttle %)

It typically kicks in after a specified pitch program (configured in the PEG ascent window) of X deg/sec over Y seconds, etc etc

Saturn used something similar called Iterative Guidance Mode (IGM)

It could even compensate for engine out situations though that's not typically something KSP players have to worry about

If you're using stock Kerbin then I'm not sure how PEG would work there. In theory it should but it would likely depend on the initial pitch program... I usually configure to start PEG between 60-135 seconds after launch and it wants to do shallow ascent, that being more efficient. In a stock environment that would mean going shallow at high speeds and low altitudes which means a lot of atmospheric heating. But you could give it a long pitch program and have it kick in during the upper atmosphere....

(none of that should matter for airless moons; it'll just fly shallow the whole way. Just make sure your initial pitch program is enough to clear any hills)

Atmospheric heating is essentially the only reason I use the ascent program. On airless bodies I've usually flown either by-wire (entering pitch / roll / yaw commands into MJ) until I get the desired apoapse or I get off the ground in that manner and then use the adjust orbit programs to get the same effect. It didn't even occur to me before today that you could use the ascent program away from an atmospheric world.

Official updates have been released for both KSP 1.4.5 and KSP 1.5.1

This update contains new analytic improvements for tank temperature for cryogenics. Temperature will increase much more realistically during timewarp > 100 (that is, from 1000 on up)

The same issue that made analytic temp increases so slow would likely have made cooldown (whether from boiloff or external sources) also happen more slowly so that has been fixed as well and code to ensure that cooldown happens when it should happen has been put in as well. 

As soon as CKAN indexes the 1.5.1 update we'll be pushing one out for 1.6.0 as well.

OK, so I'm slightly confused...

Considering RO is now ported to 1.4.5, is there a link for RF that is also 1.4.5?

There are so many various threads against a number of KSP versions, that frankly confuses me.

Does anyone have a link to a (KSP 1.4.5) version of RF?  

Apologies for not reading through 160 pages of posts. ;)

Real Fuels for KSP 1.6.1 is in pre-release

It won't be released for CKAN indexing as Community Resource Pack hasn't been updated and I still want to use this opportunity to clear some of the outstanding issues that have been sitting around for a couple of years.

Everything is community maintained.  Unlike Making History itself, no one is getting paid for this.  If you want to add it, make it yourself!

I know how to write a config. I just wonder if stockalike RF config has been abandoned.

If so, I would very much like to take over.

However I have no idea how does the liscence work and how to upload it.
