What's more annoying, X-wings or Vipers?

If they're not, they're great big finking wind-catchers which would create ungodly drag while in atmosphere

Not necessarily. The stagnant air inside such a cowling could create a bubble that helps guide oncoming air around the duct. A bit like the bubble formed by a pickup truck's bed. Aerodynamics can be very counterintuitive.

That being said, what are we even talking about? It is a sci-fi craft, not something designed by Lockheed. Deal with it.

A bubble which, in this case, contains nothing and serves no purpose and therefore has no reason for existing, and subsequently would create more drag than putting a properly sharp aerodynamic cone-like-thingy on there which didn't encase useless empty space, and even if it wasn't that bad, still serves no purpose.

I really don't get this. Why are so many people determined to defend a patently ridiculous vehicle designed for its looks?

Here is a bit of trivia for you folks. The Star Fighters used in the "Buck Rogers" movie that became a TV series were originally made as Vipers for the original "BattleStar Galatica" movie. Both movies also shared many of the same props.

Not just props such as blasters, control sticks etc.

But also sound effects.

Maybe the Buck Rogers earth should be what the galactica found in the end... I'd watch that.

My new pet peeve in films isn't so much tech stuff anymore, but rather that the characters ALWAYS discuss the most sensitive and secret things over the phone. Everyone in every spy/crime movie would be busted SO quickly. Dexter was especially bad at this
