Thanks for your hard work!

Can I assume the update works for 1.0.2 too? Might be wise to update the main topic title to reflect that and draw people's attention.

Er, how do I enable the experimental effects?
I'm getting a little trouble in 1.0.2 with HotRockets

I get the same effect, no visual and when you cut the throttle sound effect keeps going on, the flea effect works however
This config... is it disabled by default or does it just not work? I'm not getting the effects.

For anyone who downloaded 1.0 experimental, uninstall the mod and download again from here:

My fault guys - looks like this had an unneeded config included. The mod folder should have a config called zAtmo_hotrockets.cfg, and expansion is already working. You can change the values in that config to change the size to your liking.

Er... can I get a 'for dummies' on which values correspond to what?

Hmm for some reason I'm getting no FX on the Ion Engine? everything else works fine, tried removing and redownloading from a different source and re-extracting, still no Ion Engine FX, anyone else getting this problem or is it just me doing something silly?

Didn't find a CFG in your mod for FX on that engine but made one for you :)

EDIT- Or on the part :)

Is it possible to have HotRockets engine particles but stock smoke effects?

I managed to do this by deleting the smokescreen config file, but leave the dll in, it will break stuff if you delete it.

how do you install this?

I second this. I've deleted the hotrockets folder and the smokescreen folder, and now MRS quad nukes don't have any exhaust

This is what Necrobones had to say in the MRS thread:

For the engine effects, it sounds like HotRockets didn't get completely uninstalled, or another mod is tricking ModuleManager into thinking it's still there. The normal effects on the engine are some of the oldest, simplest effects settings that the game supports, and they only get removed if the MM config's "NEEDS[HotRockets]" test says that HotRockets is still there. It's possible another mod set up their config wrong. If another mod has a block that says "FOR[HotRockets]" instead of "NEEDS[HotRockets]", it effectively tells MM that the mod is there, instead of asking for it as a requirement. Also, if the "HotRockets" folder is still in GameData at all, MM will probably think the mod is still installed too.

Just in case, I've deleted and reinstalled all the mods that came with engines and reinstalled them, as well as module manager cache file and it's still happening. Right now I'm thinking I should uninstall and reinstall KSP and every mod I use, which lights the ... lights in my head

Have you checked all the cfg for the ( :NEED and :FOR ) ? they need to be ( NEED ) or all need ( FOR ) has the post you linked and that has been a pain one mod use one way and anther use the other.

And how on Earth am I going to check every cfg file in the game data folder? Is manually checking over a hundred files the proper way to install a mod???? Really?

You can try to open ModuleManager.ConfigCache with text editor, then Ctrl+f and search for NB2mNuclearEngine,then scroll dow to see how engine is patched. If you see any MODEL_MULTI_PARTICLE_PERSIST,then engine uses hotrockets and you need to delete ModuleManager.ConfigCache .I tried with MM 2.6.5 and had no need to delete MM.ConfigCache.Also you can delete MRS_HotRockets.cfg from GameData/ModRocketSys/ and restart the game, letting MM to patch parts again.
