sometimes sensors attached on a spacecraft are hidden in darkness. One can overcome ths problem with a spotlight attached with is in some way a overkill.

Getting a sensor a little bit illumineted by pressing "U" would be a smart sollution.

Don't they already glow green-ish when you mouse over them? It can be a bit unnerving to search blindly, but lights wouldn't be an option at least with the thermometre... because of heating and stuff

Not if you're on the dark side of a planet, you can't.

I don't think it is something that needs improvements. I think it is part of the challenge, similar to electricity. You only run into problems if you neglect it during the ship design.

- you can put your sensors on action groups - that'll allow you to activate them without need to search them around the craft

- you can use a spotlight to light up the important part of the ship

- you can use parts with glowing bits such as batteries to mark their positions
