So stealing this idea... can the crew reliably get in and out when the doors are open?

We did some tests, and yes you can :D Although the service bay does exhibit a resistance property when clipped (It does not want to be clipped, get's very irritated)

I didnt notice. I just made it. Before 1.0 it wasnt working, so I tried now and it works ;)

Sorry, i don't follow forum much

Oh, no need to be sorry for that :D But We guys here at Sparrowhawk offer you a pre-made ejector seat, if you ever need such :D

update on the Kerbal Electric KF-6 engine :P

here on the flying test bed, with the new ducted fan, and the new engine mount :) (one engine removed to better see the mount :P)

eHmhKqhl.png

the engine is 28 parts, the mount is 11 parts :) - 39 parts total :)

this specific mount needs a wing which can house the length of a structural intake though :P (there's 3 structural intakes per pod, enough to feed the two basic jet engines each nacelle has :P)

still needs a few tweaks for the ducted fan - at least one on the four the test bed has jams from time to time. (even though, on static benchtest, i never could jam them...)

the ducted fan's reaction wheel is turning thanks to a dry bearing - made thanks to the new fairings :P (they are stuck between the 'conical' front part of the fairing, and the 1.25m decoupler) - i used a technique i posted in the open source thread allowing me to create open ended fairings :P

Are you using a Sparrowhawk E.J.E.C.O.R.S? :o

More Cessna testing :D

Yep, something went wrong with the separators.

One of the seats got caught up, and Jack Kerman is not feeling too good about it...

It wasn't until his neck snapped that he made his peace...

Miraculously, the seat was able to break free, and Jack, although paralyzed yet again, was able to land safely.

We may need to call help. Charlie, where are you?

We decided to test in low altitudes for the best of the worst of cases. Minor adjustments and a few changes, blow off that roof! :D

http://i.imgur.com/1DdoZsO.jpg

The roof opening was made wider, and this time we are far more confident that Jack and Charlie could actually make it out this time.

Success! :D

Our two pilots, Jack Kerman and Charlie Kerman, subjected to paralysis and recovered multiple times, stood proud behind the sunset over the success for testing the Cessna 150's E.J.E.C.T.O.R.S. system. It was tough, and they had it rough, but they never had enough :D

Cessna 150 is in green light :D

Ejector seats are SO hard! Nice work!

The fan blades actually move!? Holy crap!

All modules filled in, keep in mind that in the first image the D/v isn't calculating the fuel which can be taken from the landers and service vehicles or the convertible ore which would be held. As long as one miner has fuel it can survive.

I echo the sentiment. In the meantime, my WiP:

I was trying to build a 20mT, low density SSTO. Turned out once I balanced it to break Mach, it also was capable of pulling a whole Big Red to orbit. At 25% payload ratio. I'll take it.

Rune. Right now ('K, thirty minutes, still can't write up the post) I'm leaving on a trip, but when I get back, I think this and a couple other things will be my first 1.0 release, it's time.

I decided to make a muscle car.

Cause there weren't really any "Non-Modded Proper Muscle Cars after the introduction of Rover Wheels"

Decided to build a shuttle, i have no idea if its good or not lol i felt like the 1 tank with offset engines design was flawed so i went with a 2 stage 2 tank design, havent put it in orbit yet, i feel like i should stick to SSTO's lol

Edit: doh i forgot engines on the second stage of that launch haha

3DfkFL1.jpg

shuttle has 3 nukes 2 lvt45 4 rockomax and 16 ion engines

F6cyaGc.jpg

Edit: well it makes orbit, time to add control and what not so it does it effectively

managed to get to the sweet spot of my jet engines dry bearing, for my new animated jet engines :)

this bearing is so efficient that it's best to only trim the roll for the fans to 50% :P (100% works too, but they spin so fast that it almost seems they are not moving, whereas at 50% you can see them spinning correctly :P)

release of a pack of those engines soon :)

two versions of the engines (not including long duct versions for tails - each model has it's tail variation avaible), 1 shorter, lighter but with only 1 basic jet engine, and the one you see in the gif with two clipped basic jet engines :)

here's a small gif of an engine startup, and static stress test of the latest version of the KF-6-50 :) (also included, a version with a long air duct, for use in tails :P)

clic the image to see the stress test :)

this tweaked fan don't jam :) (even inflight)

their diameter is around 2m :)

Oh my gosh. THANK YOU. I've wanted to make stock bearings since the release of 1.0. It also provides more realism to real aero

Wow, sgt_flyer.. that is so.. mind-blowing! Repped!

One question though, how did you manage to make such tiny bearings, and how many parts is it?

He will be using the well know reaction wheel bearings. They are surprisingly easy to make. Place one reaction wheel, with something like cubic struts or empty small fuel tanks attached inline. Add a seperatron as the bearing needs to detatch to become a separate craft. Then just set rotation trim on the reactionwheel when you select it. Profit.

those dry bearings are only made of 5 parts !

- 1x fairing (specially shaped using the technique to create open ended fairings i posted in the open source thread)

- 1x 1.25m decoupler,

- 1x 1.25 m reaction wheel,

- 1x okto2 probecore and

- 1x RTG to power the thing :)

the rest is a lot of hours of finetweaking the offset of all those parts :P

the fan itself is made of 13 parts :

- 12x atmospheric fluid spectro-variometers,

- 1x 0.625m nosecone :P

yet, those bearings are a bit jumpy some times :P among all the tests i realised, they can still jam with vertical g's (at +3g, they can jam - not much a problem besides stopping the fan though :P - a single trimmed SAS unit has negligible effects on the airframe) - though most airliners are not tested above +2.5G's - so unless you pull stunts with an airliner ^^ (though, hard landings can generate those G's ingame :P Squad needs to update those new landing gears with suspensions to cushion the landings ^^)
