Oh man, I presume I've been gone for too long. :) To answer the question, 1 battery per side, total 400 battery life, 3 Reaction wheels per side, because it requires a lot of control to get it spinning. Not to mention that, the previous design only have 1 Reaction wheel per side, it would take around 2 minutes to get it halfway to do a loop.

The hinge is relatively the same, though as seen in the video, I added two thermometers in the middle (probably those aren't placed correctly) in which is to mostly blame for the issue, that and the 7 G's of force as it comes down :D

The swing was heavily inspired on the discovery of micro hinges and by this video.
Hopefully this will clear everything up. I'd be happy to answer any more questions about the swing.

(Oh and the difference between Majorjim's swing and mine is I used RC and he used liquid oxygen. Same concept different fuel )

You would be amazed how many hours it took to get my thermo hinges working. A full week of late KSP sessions. They must be made in a very particular way if you want reliability. I tried every possible combination of parts and what I settled on was the most reliable set-up. For low force systems you can be a bit lazy but with more force on the bearing the tolerances decrease massively. They have a low weight tolerance which puts limits on them but for the size and possible uses they cannot be beaten.

The swing-set was just an example craft.

Made a V-2 "Replica".. That has a really messy structure.. Too slow to break the sound barrier.. Shatters when left on it's gantry for a few minutes (I learned that the hard way after leaving it for a few seconds to go to the bathroom).. has a launch rover-thingy that is destroyed upon the V-2's launch.. 350+parts.. And has disoriented controls. Great, isn't it?

At least it has the destructive power to destroy one of the KSC Buildings, or the runway.

Here's mister "Too many parts" again. Also known as "Add parts, ask questions later". I wanted to build one too. F4U in Marine Corps black. Stock except KerbPaint. No, I'm not going to show it without paint because frankly it's fugly. The only compromise I made was with the placement of the Juno's. They actually don't fit anywhere within the clean lines of the original. Currently in finalizing stage, just some more cleaning up to do. I'm gonna add another revised KerbPaint config based on the great work done by selfish_meme, those Juno's and small air intakes need some colour too. Flight performance is totally fine, predictable and docile except for all the drag the 209 parts give so it never can reach the speed of the original. The Juno drops of in performance with altitude unlike the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 with it's two-stage three-speed supercharger of the original. Taking off: full throttle, hit stage. It will take off without control input. Landing is easy, you don't need the flaps. Dimensions are almost perfect, same width, length only 20cm too much. Turning with 7G didn't bend or break anything.

Thats why I put the Junos in the drop tanks, nice replica, it's like all our jeeps and land rovers, many ways to get to a similar end result. I've still got a way to go on the configs, just for all the stock parts, never realised how many there were. Also some of the masks are really hard to get right, sometimes there is no contiguous area just lots of shapes cut out at random.

Now get BDArmory and mount 6 50 cals in the wings and have a dogfight, it's fun!

Here's the beginning of an ambitious project, the Battle Of Denmark Strait Pack, which will feature Prinz Eugen, Bismarck, Hood, and Prince Of Wales. I've begun construction on the Prinz Eugen, The deck is really a placeholder right now, I'm currently trying to figure out the hull, which is much more complex then anything I've tried before, and will take couple of days to get corrected.6qDWJ7i.pngThe front middle section os probably where I will tackle next.

I just had an itch about that mk1 cockpit, I had suggested it to others, but no one wanted to try it, the build came together so well. 68 parts only, sustained Mach 4.5. at 10km+

sanu4Kx.pngEdit: This version has been superseded already, smoothed out the front to better mimic the SR-71, couple more parts and a second seat.

Have not had time lately to KSP. But did tinker with a couple of ideas... The 'overcraft, does somewhat behave like a hovercraft-ish. Goes much faster with the Junos lit and lifting it off the water.

And the Mk 2 Freighter, well it looks cool (subjective of course), but not sure how much use it would be...

..My.. god..

How about the Bismarck? Imagine both of the ships sailing together while being escorted by Bf 109s, or being under attack from HMS Hood-- I'll stop now.

I spent my entire morning focused on this project-- A B-25. I was proud of it, it looked beautiful and didn't crumble to pieces when put on the runway.

It was plagued by problems when launching at first, such as the landing gear being placed too upfront, being too slow (turns out 5000 units of fuel are heavy) and our good old friend, "Ken't activeyscht wheil shtowd".

I continued working on it, and the result:

qMAhXPp.png

I need to add turrets, and bombs. That will certainly pose problems..

EDIT: I started the project 6:05 am, now it's 8:04... an hour and 59 min long.

Wow, that one looks nice! Make sure to post the craft file when you are done!

You know you have to make a version modified with fewer guns and more fuel and able to take off with a short runway for th Doolittle Raid version,

Possible, but I doubt I could make an aircraft carrier for it to take off from.

I don't really have a name for this vehicle... open for suggestions.

Its an asymmetrical plane with the cockpit seated at the left side of the main wing. Flies well, center of mass is in the dead center, fuel drains correctly to keep COM in the middle. Lots of fuel, top speed around 160 meters per second, Landing gear positions look weird but It works and it just adds more to the craft.

I'm working on an ssto which I've based roughly on something I made with Lego, and it shows promise (just over 300 m/s at a 40-ish degree angle:cool:). All it really needs now is more lift and rcs thrusters, but I'll have a hard time with that. I will possibly be using it for the Seaplane to Orbit challenge,if I can make it or a variant of it a seaplane. I've given it the name "The Flaming Comet".

I had a crazy idea a few hours ago... Unfortunately, it happened to be the exact same crazy idea that caused the Empire of Japan to start killing off their few remaining pilots in suicide attacks on U.S. warships. Luckily, this is KSP, so I can do this with no consequences whatsoever!

I could have had this completed by now, it's not that hard to make a suicide bomb and test it, but the Kraken would not have me release anything today.

Spoiler

I have encountered many, many bugs and Kraken attacks today. Here are some of the most frustrating/ bewildering ones.
VRpRfnI.jpg This is what happened when I quickloaded after a failed launch of the Ohka. In addition to the entire left wing of the carrier plane being gone, the back half of the Ohka hasd also vanished, as well as the right control surfaces and a small fuel pod that was on the end of the right wing. The plane is frozen in the air, the navball says its airspeed if 117 m/s, but the plane isn't moving nor are the engines even producing thrust.

qJvl4JB.png

The second time I tested the carrier and Ohka, the entire plane suddenly exploded on me for no reason whatsoever. Somehow, the Ohka escaped unharmed, but was thrown into an uncontrollable spin. I had to fire the rockets to arrest the plane, meaning I was unable to test it on a KSC building, however I was able to get the photo of the Ohka to preview. Because of how far some of the debris has flown (nearly 9km), I think I'm going to write this off as another Kraken attack. I also kept hearing sound effects for explosions and splashes, even though nothing was being destroyed and nothing was bouncing in the water. Believe it or not, it sounded just like someone playing a drum set (not someone just banging the drums to make noise, I mean someone actually playing one!).

Yeah... Based on this and several other problems I've had in the past with quickloads, launch/recovery of vessels, and strange sound effects that shouldn't be playing, I'm beginning to think I may have a corrupt install. Not really sure what would be causing it though.

I've had craft that crashed my game when I activated something. Sometimes you have to go back and do it over to get a clean craft file.

Currently I am using a KAX cockpit for this as it was half and half engineering and checking out a biggish plane replica that wasn't just MK3 parts, because not many jets actually have flat sides (I know right, weird), you may have seen it's predecessor on reddit, where it had a static extended boom (be careful taking off), this has a stock moving boom making take-off's much easier. Take-off speed with flaps is around 80ms, I keep dialling back the engines because Real Plume insists on them having annoying little flames shooting out. I am looking at a stock cockpit build but only if I can make something that doesn't look like the cat dragged it in, chewed on it and then peed on it.
