This thread will display my Kerbal poetry and music. Reviews and comments are welcome! :)

An adaptation of Ed Sheeran's I See Fire to Kerbal Space Program:

Oh steady eyes of wise Mission Control

Keep careful watch of my crewmates' souls,

And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke

Keep watching over Kerbin's sons.

If we are to end in fire, then we shall all burn together.

Watch the flames burst high into the night!

Calling out, Mission Control, standby 'til we will launch our rocket mighty o'er the oceanside.

And if we should die tonight, then we shall all die together:

Hear the engine whine for the last time.

Calling out, Mission Control, countdown 'til we will launch our rocket mighty o'er the oceanside.

Flames of glory streak across the sky!

Now I see fire inside the boosters,

I see fire great as the seas,

And I see fire draining the tanks.

I see fire--sparks in the breeze--

And I hope that you'll remember me.

Oh should my crewmates fall, then surely I'll do the same

Strapped into tiny pods, we ride meters from the flames.

Calling out, Mission Control, chatter while we fly in our rocket mighty o'er the oceanside.

For sweet science screaming through the sky!

Now I see fire inside the boosters,

I see fire great as the seas,

And I see fire draining the tanks.

I see fire--sparks in the breeze--

And I hope that you'll remember me.

And if the night is burning raise your gazes on high

For if we shall return, then we'll set fire to the sky

And when our pod is floating down we'll crash into a lonely town

And we'll there gaily stride around and hear its Kerbals singing loud:

Now I see fire inside the boosters,

I see fire great as the seas,

And I see fire draining the tanks.

I see fire--sparks in the breeze.

I see fire (oh you know I saw a rocket burning) fire!

And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin) fire!

And I see fire...fire!

And I see fire burn orange o'er the oceanside.

Discoveries, an adaptation of David Glen Eisley's Sweet Victory

We Kerbals learn all.

For the thrill we fly with skill.

From Kerbol to Pol danger never bends our will.

We never look back on the void closing in:

With an EVA pack we can shatter the wind!

Let the countdown begin!

To our great, great discoveries! Yeah!

They're ours for the making! They're ours for the flight!

We'll make great, great discoveries!

And should sweet Science ever call,

We'll come one and all!

We will leap in our rockets:

Forever knowledge is our goal.

We'll be ever ready though the clock keeps tolling on.

Against all the odds, against all our pain, from Kerbol to Pol deep secrets we'll claim!

Wild minds won't be tamed!

We'll make great, great discoveries! Yeah!

They're ours for the making. They're ours for the flight!

We'll make great, great discoveries! Yeah!

And should sweet Science ever call, we'll come one and all!

We will come one and all! Yeah!

We'll make great, great discoveries! Yeah!

They're ours for the making. They're ours for the flight!

And they're great, great discoveries! Yeah!

We will answer Kerbol's call!

We Kerbals learn all!

Do You Hear the Kerbals Sing?, an adaptation of Les Miserables' Do You Hear the People Sing?

[Gene]

Do you hear the Kerbals sing--

Singing a song of joyous Kerbs?

They sing the music of a species

Who will ever fly again!

When the roaring of the crowd

Echoes the roaring on the pad,

Kerbanauts rise most bold and proud

With the cheering glad!

[Bill]

Will you purge your hearts of fear?

Who will be brave and fly with me?

Beyond the atmosphere:

Are there some sights you long to see?

[Jebediah]

Then join in the flight that will launch in the night o'er the sea!

[All]

Do you hear the Kerbals sing--

Singing a song of joyous Kerbs?

They sing the music of a species

Who will ever fly again!

When the roaring of the crowd

Echoes the roaring on the pad,

Kerbanauts rise most bold and proud

With the cheering glad!

[bob]

Will you give all you can give

So that our knowledge may advance?

Some will fall, and some will live:

Will you stand up and take your chance?

The blood of the martyrs

Will fuel our cosmic dance!

[All]

Do you hear the Kerbals sing--

Singing a song of joyous Kerbs?

They sing the music of a species

Who will ever fly again!

When the roaring of the crowd

Echoes the roaring on the pad

Kerbanauts rise most bold and proud

With the cheering glad!

I'm Longing to Fly, a fitting adaptation of I'm Dreaming of Home.

I hear the engines scream--

The sound of boosters roaring--

A sound I've often heard.

It blasts through me now,

Bone-shakingly loud.

I gaze from the sand,

And forever I'm longing to fly.

I feel I must try: I'm longing to fly.

It's carried in the air--

The smell of burnt propellant.

I see the planets fair.

My mouth opens wide:

"For science we ride!"

I gaze from the sand

And forever I'm longing to fly.

I feel I must try: I'm longing to fly.

Beneath sweet Kerbin's sky,

Awash in Kerbol's light,

Too far away I am

From far, foreign land.

I'm longing to stand,

A flag in my hand, and

Forever I'm longing to fly.

I feel I must try: I'm longing to fly.

Little Kerbal who Did Fear the Void A Bit, an adaptation of Drake Sea Folk Group's Maly Chlopiec kto sie Morza Troche Bal

Ere he came into the world,

Ere his lidded eyes unfurled,

Fate whispered softly that like Dad he would lonely walk the void.

Through his window every day

Mighty rockets proudly roared away;

Nightly 'Center lights would blink him off to sleep.

Father was a captain great.

And by good luck the son would oft

Reason brightly when he from his eager dad learned math.

And when his dad had flown away,

Lonely midst his mother's tears

And prayers for a safe o'erpassage every night,

Little Kerbal did fear the void a bit.

He was very small: he ne'er saw all of it!

During evenings, overhearing worries grim,

He wondered 'bout what Fate had planned for him.

Maybe some blame here could creep:

Widows old before he'd sleep

Told him stories of the terrors of the black.

Maybe that when he saw news

He saw tears fall on black shoes

And graves erected for the ones who never came back home

Hence he still feared the void a bit

He was very small: he ne'er saw all of it!

Oft he wondered how his father would reply

When he'd ask him if he could now with him fly!

Slowly passed the lonely days.

Fate could not be begged away.

Father made his son a sailor

Of the sea of shining stars.

And many years would come to pass

Ere he could calmly fly with class.

Understanding and good judgment eased his fear.

And though always he feared the void a bit

With his backflips he saw nearly all of it!

With the years they so closely interwined

That Kerbin stopped to learn when he opined.

Little Kerbal who did fear the void a bit,

He was very small: he ne'er saw all of it!

During evenings overhearing worries grim,

He wondered 'bout what Fate had planned for him

For not the greatest captain is

Who nature wars with all that's his

And in hopeless battle's throes of madness with his orbit blindly fights,

But he who sets maneuver nodes

And with good reason calmly goes

Into the inky black when planetary transfers serve him most.

Dunar Sands, an adaptation of Rio Grande

Away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

Oh, our course is well-plotted, and engines are lit,

Away, Duna!

The planet we're leaving we'll never forget,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

Observe the cold nav-ball and spin us around,

Away, Duna!

We'll burn for two minutes to our LV-N's sound,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands.

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

We've a jolly good ship, and a jolly good crew,

Away, Duna!

A jolly good mate, and a good skipper, too,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

We'll sing whilst we weave through the orbits we leave,

Away, Duna!

And you who are listening, good-bye to you,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

Mate spin ‘round to normal, let's change course today,

Away, Duna!

Give me ten delta-vee, and hold steady, I say,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

Float on we will and experiment long,

Away, Duna!

Send back our lab notes and repeat if we'e wrong,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

Maneuver to prograde and burn four away

Away, Duna!

Cut throttle, hold steady: we say farewell to-day,

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

The maneuver is final, and our tug is away

Away Duna!

Drift up to the window, you can watch now all day,

see our world drift away

For we're bound for the Dunar sands,

And away Duna! Far away Duna!

We burn to adventure your far, foreign lands!

And we drift to the Dunar sands!

Minds of Kerbin, an adaptation of Men of Harlech

Hark! I see a comet nearing!

Impact would be planet-clearing!

Dust grains in the sunbeams searing

glitter in the void.

Minds of Kerbin, stop your dreaming!

Can't you see its surface gleaming?

See its gas plumes brightly streaming

to our planet dear!

Warnings from our headlines blaring

Science journals “Doom!" declaring

To designs of wit most daring

call your Kerbal minds!

Shall the voice of wailing

now be unavailing

you to rouse who never yet

in mission's hour were failing?

(NO!)

This our answer: rockets soaring,

swiftly born by engines roaring!

Not in vain the voice imploring

calls on Kerbal minds!

Minds of Kerbin, on to glory!

See your 'Center famed in story

Hang these burning words high o'er ye,

“Kerbals never yield!"

On the rock see cameras spying,

Legs and wheels together lying.

All around the robots flying

Shall save us from death!

Nervous hearts in chests are pounding,

Countdown 'till the push-burn sounding.

Now the LV-Ns astounding

Scream triumphant breath!

See! It's shifting over!

Kiss no four-leaf clover:

Reason's way has saved the day

And moved the orbit over!

Now the comet flees before us!

Joyous crowds are cheering for us!

'Round the world resounds the chorus:

"Kerbals win the field!"

The Blue-Paneled Station, an adaptation of The Star-Spangled Banner

O say, can you see,

in the dark of the night,

what so boldly we launched

by the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose grey tubes and blue planes

through the thunderous flight

o'er the crawl lanes we watched

were so upwardly screaming?

And the shuttles' red glare,

the transmissions on air,

gave prove through the years,

that our station was there!

O say does that blue-paneled station yet fly

o'er the cradle of the Kerbs,

on the edge of the sky?
