<p id="docs-internal-guid-15456331-b758-66ad-bd07-3465488f442d"><strong>Felipe (HarvesteR)</strong><span><strong>:</strong> Planning <strong>0.24</strong> is essentially done, tasks assigned and all, so we’re finally starting to get into the update proper. Spent the week helping out wherever needed, and working on an experimental feature I want to try to get working for <strong>0.24</strong>. More on that later. Contracts is next up on my list after this.</span></p>

<p><strong>Alex (aLeXmOrA): </strong><span>Last Friday marked three years since I joined Squad and we started coding <em><strong>KSP</strong></em>. I have to say that it’s been a great experience so far. For now, I’ve been doing backups and checking everything on the <em><strong>KSP</strong></em> Servers is working fine.</span></p>

<p><span><strong>Mike (Mu):</strong> Editor’s Note - Mu’s in the batcave and wasn’t able to fill it out before time of posting.</span><span> </span></p>

<p><strong>Marco (Samsonart):</strong><span> I spent last week doing some maintenance work on <strong>KerbalEDU</strong></span></p>

<p><strong>Chad (C7)</strong><span><strong>:</strong> I’ve spent this week working on a special project, along with finishing testing of the Unity 4.3.3 update. </span></p>

<p><strong>Daniel (danRosas)</strong><span>:</span><span> </span><span>I’m working with Romfarer on the new UI, setting up the layout of the backdrop. I’m doing some animated tests for that section, and then I’ll be moving on to animating the character of that scene. Also, I’ve been doing some research on space horror flicks, you never know when we’ll be using those references on a kerbal short heh.</span></p>

<p><strong>Jim (Romfarer)</strong><span>:</span><span> </span><span>As Daniel mentioned we are doing another gui together. More details about what exactly it is for will be revealed as the project progresses.</span></p>

<p><strong>Miguel (Maxmaps):</strong><span> Working on Squadcast planning. Dealing with an awesome gift that was given to Squad as a whole. Also working on a pretty nifty system that will make the lives of people who want to get into making <em><strong>KSP</strong></em> youtube vids a blast.</span></p>

<p><strong>Jesus (Chuchito):</strong><span> </span><span>Planning and doing some tests about how the multiplayer server would be developed.</span></p>

<p><span><strong>Bob (Calisker):</strong> </span><span>Working on some contracts and agreements (exciting stuff, right?!). More exciting are some conversations I’m having with different people regarding the educational value of <em><strong>KSP</strong></em> for learning science. Hopefully there’s a mess of you doubling down on your science homework before playing <em><strong>KSP</strong></em> (or using <em><strong>KSP</strong></em> as a launching pad into scientific studies). </span></p>

<p><span><strong>Ted (Ted):</strong> </span><span>Been continuing with working on the documentation for Testing Teams and going over anything that needs doing before QA starts.</span></p>

<p><span><strong>Anthony (Rowsdower):</strong> Aside from my usual stuff, I’ve been dealing with event planning and brainstorming promo ideas for some things that we have lined up in the next few months. Well not just the next few months. We’ve got some neat community content set to come out over the next few weeks. We’ve got photos, we’ve got video, we’ve got contests, we’ve got everything short of cooking you dinner and tucking you in at night. Oh and in case you missed it last week, I’m making another call for suggestions on a mascot outfit. Do you know a reliable company or person who can make a pro quality costume for a realistic price on a tight schedule? PM me on the forum. <br/></span></p>

<p><span><strong>Eduardo (Lalo):</strong> <span>Learning more about the game, understanding the things that everyone make for <em><strong>KSP</strong></em>, bothering to all kerbal staff with giving me their different times for making their jobs, thinking how to make a dashboard and asking to danRosas everyday for my kerbal :)</span><br/></span></p>

This got me thinking: Students could go check out the properties of Duna via science to learn about the properties of Mars, and same with the other planets.

So basically, you learn about the other planets while also learning about spacecraft and orbital mechanics. Just a "suggestion" or so about KerbalEDU

Okay this thing about people who want to get into KSP videos thing has me interested, but will it have any impact on people who have already spent years on KSP videos? (I've been doing them for... a year and a half now? a little over that actually, come to think of it, that's a very long time.)

huh... most of this looks interesting. only 1 thing giving me serious heebie jeebies and thats the prospect of multiplayer, i do hope that they make it an optional download or at least if not, that it does not harm the quality or quantity of things to do stand alone either in career or sandbox modes. Do not misunderstand tho, I think most multiplayer things are good, but some tend to seriously harm the solo aspect of games, like say the 3.5-4 hour campaign on just about any difficulty on some FPS games. just sayin.

What's the word on the Edu version? Is that a thing yet, or just in planning? How will it differ from standard KSP?

I have a few friends who are teachers that would like to use KSP in the classroom, but would prefer to get the edu version because that's an easier sell to their schools.

with three monitors, and the help of mechjeb, I can do my Java homework, and shuffle rockets around at the same time.

I seriously don't think they "force" you into multiplayer mode/gameplay. Like most games it will probably be a different mode which you can combine with either career or sandbox play

But KSP already has a solid single player, and although working on MultiPlayer will take a while and a lot of SQUADS effort will go into it, it's planned to be done after Career and Sandbox are relatively done. As for a seperate download, why? It wouldn't impact single player at all really.

The Road to 0.24? Is that anything like the Road to Wrestlemania? :D (KIDDING, kidding! Though I *would* laugh madly at seeing a Kerbalized version of El Hijo del Santo, Mil Mascaras, or the original La Parka...)

Or maybe Kerbal Libre, or Nacho Kerman

so safe to assume mid to late beta <as a guess> ?

Sorry, but there's no specific date in mind at this time. It's coming, but it's down the road.

Ha! Well KSP does have a lot of pyro, so it *could* match up to your typical WWE show. I, for one, would love to see La Parka in Kerbal form.

Sooo, I love update news and I'm glad to hear that things are moving along. But, wasn't there supposed to be an update to Spaceport some time ago? Because it's seriously borked. I haven't heard anything on it in a loooooooooooong time.

This - there were a ton of updates about the Spaceport overhaul, but they whole thing seems to have vanished in the air.

Certain games that used to have spectacular single player modes went down hill after MP was added. Not saying it will happen here but it gives me reason for concern ya know? As for a separate DL? It could be that or part of an update, I for one hope its separate for personal reasons lol

'Contracts'. Terrible term! If they are what most of us are expecting, I think missions would be a lot better choice of wording. But contracts? That makes it sound like the usual mundane crap of launching some GPS satellites. Yeah . . . fun.

That aside, they're jumping into multiplayer early! I seriously expected them to work on career mode a lot more before they even started brainstorming implementation of that. This will be a good one for sure, but i seriously do hope they consider a change of wording on 'contracts'.

The way KSP plays means that every function of multiplayer is also a function of career mode. no content or mechanic will be MP exclusive (with the exception probably of some time warp restrictions). Effectively, to improve multiplayer, they have to improve sandbox. If you are concerned about it taking away development time, it's highly unlikely. After all, the groundwork is effectively laid. If they really wanted to, they could ask to see the KMP code and look off that for a reference point (they are programmers, so they probably wouldn't need to :P).
