Why can I not manage even the simplest of EVA?

Minmus is a good place to train EVA movements. Small gravity there allow for some quality "air" time. And when you run out of fuel, just walk your Kerbonaut back to the capsule.

Thats what I did. Once you have the EVA RCS controls down its simple enough. Just dont go EVA while under acceleration.
