Is there a way to the problem where the first ship to land back on Kerbin gets all the credit and the second ship gets nothing. For example, I sent up two ships to dock in orbit around kerbin (which was my first docking in that save) and then the two ships went on different missions ( one went to the Mun and the other to minmus) only the first ship to retun was awarded ribbons(for the docking) but the second received no credit what so ever( except for its minmus credit). Can this be fixed?

I think docking is thought of as involving a docker and a dockee...

Hello, I ran into a problem with FF. I love this mod, but it doesn't seem to work with the rescue missions.

Whenever I try to have the kerbal I am rescuing board my vessel, they are duplicated in the ship but remain on the ladder as well putting me

now with one kerbal in my vessel and their doppleganger outside ready to be sacrificed to the Kraken.

I'm not familiar with the coding in the files but I think it has some error with the boarding logic that arises when a crew member is created

from a rescue mission and boards your vehicle from eva.

I confirmed that removing this mod fixes the error. Also, I am running on Win 7x64. Any help?

The Kerbal clone bug has appeared with several mods. My guess is that it's due to a change in stock that is just exposed by mods.

Anyway, I'd suggest that you follow the steps and provide the information suggested here. That is important info for anyone trying to assist you.

Some observations:

  1. quite often I get a "landed on Kerbin" ribbon while waiting for takeoff on the launchpad
  2. I've had ribbons for entering an atmosphere while transiting tens of thousands of kilometers over Duna
  3. I've been credited with entering the sun's atmosphere for being in interplanetary space near Kerbin's orbit
  4. Jeb has an Eve atmospheric EVA ribbon he got 200km up in space
  5. Jeb has a sun close orbit ribbon, he's never been closer to the sun than Eve orbit
  6. Quite often I get a heavy vehicle landing ribbon while sitting on the pad waiting to launch

Nice mod, but it seems to detect some things it shouldn't :)

Reproduction steps:

Go on a contract rescue mission with an extra seat for a kerbal to rescue. When attempting to have the rescued kerbal enter your vessel, duplicate bug will occur, leaving one kerbal inside and their exact twin on the outside. Attempting to have twin kerbal enter from an empty module temporarily fixes the bug, but on exit and attempt to reenter, the bug will reoccur.

Running KSP.x64 on Gentoo, and FF takes forever to load at game start. KSP sits at a black screen, and the last line of the log file is something about 'Loading Final Frontier'. FF was installed via CKAN and is up to date. Uninstalling allows the game to quickly jump to parts loading screen and run as expected.

Came up with a stack of ribbons to show different specialisations as scientists (i.e., one Kerbal might be a geologist, another might be an astronomer and so on):

Left to right, top to bottom: Geologist, Planetary Scientist (Generalist), Astronautical Engineering, Botanist, Physicist, Chemist, Atmospheric Scientist, Doctor/Physiologist, Astronomer, Cartographer/Surveyor, Computer Scientist and Biologist.

How do you create new ribbons for planet packs? It like to create a set for New Horizons, but there is no instructions anywhere to do this.

Personally, I just downloaded the ribbons for Planet Factory (first post contains the download) and adjusted the config, it was surprisingly simple.

(Atmosphere ribbons probably won't work correctly, but from what I am reading, they don't anyway :P)

This looks like a great mod, I'll definitely check it out. I'm guessing that it won't work on my old saves, though, so I'll wait until I start a new one.

I installed and ran it with my current career, and it seems to be working fine.

However, it doesn't pick up anything that has previously been done by your Kerbals .. and auto-awards events as Final Frontier sees things. As such, the next Kerbalnaut you put in orbit will receive the First Kerbal in Orbit ribbon, etc. And altho you can assign ribbons yourself, there are some (such as that mentioned) that are not available for manual award.

The variety of available ribbons is pretty cool tho, and seems extensive. I'm pretty early in my career, so I was quickly able to go thru and give all my Kerbalnauts an appropriate set of "beginner" medals (such as giving them their Wings for flying a plane in atmospher, or being a Qualified Operator (aka went thru pilot school) etc ...

No place to enter manual notes tho .. at least not that I could find.

An odd omission is that it doesn't show a Kerbalnauts "class" or skill level. .. Dear Nereid, could you perhaps look into that? :)

of course, YMMV

Nereid, thanks for the mod! It really adds to the immersion of the game. I think I found a bug there: 'Kerbin time' option in the Settings doesn't work. Whether I turn it on or off, event logs for Kerbals in Decoration Board still show 24-hour time, which is confusing.

I'm thinking about starting to use this mod. It would be great if I could add any ribbon to my kerbals when I do..

Can you remove a ribbon given by the system? (In case I know the particular kerbal wasn't the first..)

There is an option in the UI to allow revoking ribbons. Personally I just go into the SFS file and delete them myself. The format is very simple, and you can award your own ribbons in this manner as well. All the ribbon codes are available for display via the settings menu

Not necessarily a scientist, but NASA has a "planetary protection officer", which is one of the coolest job titles ever. Her job is to make sure there is no forward or backward contamination with any possible alien life encountered.

By the way, can anyone tell me where are awarded ribbons stored in the persistent file?

Last time I looked at this, while writing scripts to fix up disappearing ribbons, the useful search string was "FinalFrontierHallOfFameEntry". However, unless it has changed, it is slightly more complicated than one might like; some entries reflect ribbon awards directly, some reflect kerbals going on and returning from missions.
