Do you use SpaceShuttles??

I was just wondering if people actually use space shuttles to fly up to there stations. I do nowadays, I use it together with an ordinary rocket though. And with space shuttles i don't mean space planes, but actual space shuttles.

Not many ppl can actually build a space shuttle at all. Let alone a practical one capable of getting a good amount of cargo to space.

I abandoned rockets long, long time ago.Now i ONLY use things with wings.I think they are much more fun.

Hell naw,reusable Falcon9 all the way.I do use them for crew though.

It's not worth it. Okay, it may look very cool if it's attached to a station, but the time it takes to design one that works perfectly from launch to landing and can take an useful cargo into orbit is just too much.

Personally I think the space shuttle is iconic, so I would feel remiss to not try to replicate it in KSP. After weeks of trying (and failing), I eventually downloaded a shuttle engines pack that provides engines with a wider gimballing range and finally succeeded. The cargo carrying version is useless as it can only lift about 3 tonnes into a low orbit, but the crew shuttle is decent.

The tiberdyne mod is very very good for space shuttles, I also cant wait for the kerbin mini shuttle to come out which I will use for crew!

I don't have the patience to design shuttles, so I use rockets or spaceplanes instead.

I use either SSTOs or expendable capsules, but nothing in the space shuttle configuration. That said, pretty much all of my rocket stages have parachutes on them, so they could be called reusable in a way

I do use large VTOL SSTO shuttlecraft to ferry workers and cargo into LKO stations, where they are assembled into interplanetary craft and sent onto missions to other planets or used to construct new stations for assembly and research.

Think of it as a winged SSTO rocket with an plane cockpit.

B9, PWings, and the shuttle pivot engines mod = piece of cake building shuttles.

I traded out KW for a watered down B9 (sans all the structural components I never use) and for shuttle engines. I'll be building one this afternoon to take the empty fuel cans up to the Nebulon to finish out the grand tour.

Until I figure out SSTO spaceplanes, I stick with conventional stack rockets. Shuttles never did it for me-- more advanced than normal rockets, but not advanced enough to get into orbit without a little staged help.

Space shuttles copying the design of the real one are, from a practical standpoint, stupid. I use one that's just a single stage and parachutes back to Kerbin.

I might if I saw a purpose for them, as it is though they seem overly complicated and unable to do anything that I can't already do with dedicated rockets/space planes.

I prefer drop pods and general lifters (be they expendable or otherwise) for my LKO infrastructure. Not only are they just plain simpler and more rugged for their purposes, but the drop pods in particular are just cooler.

I have tried to make space shuttles or reusable craft, or SSTO's, but I just can't manage it at my current skill level. It's all basic, "use and throwaway" rockets, with only the capsule and science payload returning to Kerbin, the boosters, and engines are all floating in LKO, around the sun, or on the surface of the Mun.

I've built a small crew space shuttle, but honnestly it's so complex and costly that I would rather build a SSTO or a Falcon 9 style.

Actually, to be honest I do use my space shuttle a lot, but I haven't managed to build a cargo carrying one yet, i'm working on it though. And my space shuttle doesn't really follow the real life shuttle design lines, i'll post a picture of it soon

The standard U.S. Space Shuttle design does not seem very useful in KSP, and is very difficult to get to work stock. So I use SSTO rockets to shuttle crew to my space station, and reusable staged rocket to lift payloads.
