The part count lag is a result of Unity (KSP's game engine) using an older version of PhysX (it's 2.8.x IIRC) and one does not simply rewrite a whole game engine. We probably won't get major performance boosts until Unity is upgraded to PhysX 3+, which won't happen for a while.

Iy not entirely up to Unity, last update brought us performance boots, becaue squad improved some of their own code.

Rigid ship - OMG.

You do realise that that this will put an end to the spinning rockets that occur when the gimbal chases the bent tip of the rocket... KJR managed to reduce the phenomenon but not eliminate it entirely. If this new rigid ship fix actually works it will me more flight time and less time spent in the hanger adding tons of struts.
