The Models and Animations are all @Daishi 's hard work.  Release isn't too far off now, we should have the full version up on Spacedock soon(TM)

@Daishi Well done, Sir!

The sheer talent, effort and passion that you mod authors put into your work never ceases to awe, and inspire!

I have a question, if I have been using UNI Storage I  and want to start using UNI Storage II , are the mods interchangeable?  Meaning, if I add the new one and remove the old one.. will the crafts with the UNI Storage I parts get deleted?

I can't address the fundamental question you've asked but if you're also using DMagic's Orbital Science be advised that it's not yet compatible with this update.

The two versions of US are completely separate. All of the parts are different and the installation folder is different. So you can install both at the same time and there shouldn't be problems.

But if you install US 2 and delete US 1 then all of your existing vessels that use parts from that will be deleted.

Hey Andy, I missed the live stream but just watched you ask this question on the VOD!
The two mods are separate and you should be able to run both side by side.  For new craft I recommend using the new parts, but any existing craft using Universal Storage will carry on working.  Once you've finished with those craft you can delete the mod and just carry on with Universal Storage 2.

one thing id like to point out, ckan considers UniversalStorage2 as the same mod. After installing this mod manually from spacedock, ckan marked UniversalStorage as "AD". Not a big deal if your intention is to phase it out or dont install mods with ckan, or dont care lol. Just wanted to let ya know.

Universal Storage and Universal Storage 2 as the same mod?  Everything has different names so I'm not sure how that could happen, but I'm not a CKAN expert.  I'll look at creating a proper file so it knows what required mods to install.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Potentially dumb question- if I've already installed Community Resource Pack via CKAN, do I need to copy over the Community Resource File from the US2 download into my Game Data folder (and replace the existing files)?  Or would it be ok to move over the UniversalStorage2 folder?  (Sorry for the question- I'm not too familiar with what the Community Resource Pack actually does).

Thank you for all your work!  Universal Storage 1 remains one of the best mods ever created for KSP, and I am excited for 2!

I am using Universal Storage 2 and having an issue that i didn't with version 1.  I can only attach one module to a core.  what am i doing wrong?

Welcome to the forums.:D

If I'm understanding you correctly, you have US II core (quad, hex, octo) and are trying to add a US II wedge part to it.  I'm not trying to be condescending, but have you rotated the 2nd and subsequent parts appropriately?

Which version of KSP and this mod are you using?

A picture of your problem might help?  (it would certainly help me :P)

Hello everyone,

even though I am an advanced KSP player I am new to this forum and to US. I have stumbled upon US a few weeks ago and I was amazed by the look of this mod. I have decided to go for US II and it is now an integral part of many of my vessels.

Unfortunately, I came across a little issue that limits the usefulness of many US II parts; I.e. that I am not able to transfer fuel from/to/between US II tanks. Is this a known Issue or am I the only one having this problem? I am using KSP 1.4.5.2243 + Making History 1.4.0 + US II 1.5.1.7 + other mods, if that is any help.

Hopefully somebody knows more about this than I do and can help me with this. I am thankful for any ideas.

Am creating a patch for ODFC (On Demand Fuel Cells) for Universal Storage's has one fuel cell (alkaline). it produces 16 EC/s max.

Something is not quite adding up with the consumption so am be asking @Paul Kingtiger about the discrepancies between US and US2 fuel cell consumption and production numbers.

I want to make sure the ODFC patch stays true to the numbers for the original, am just concerned that the original Universal Storage Alkaline Fuel Cell's numbers are completely and significantly better than Universal Storage II's version of the same item. Which set of numbers for the US1 patch should I use?

Next question - how about consumption per EC for say LFO? LF+IA (intake Air)? Monopropellent? Any thoughts? I have already computed those for US2 based upon existing stock references, but am interested in hearing what you think, and would use if provided specifications provided if you so choose.

thank you.

Balancing fuel cells is tricky, there are two approaches.

In universal storage the fuel cells were created before the stock fuel cells were added to the game, so we decided to balance them based on real life systems.  That's easy on the inputs because community resource pack already defined what a unit of Oxygen and Hydrogen was.  But there's never been an official definition of what 1 unit of EC is.  We came up with some figures based on the generating power of stock solar panels vs real world solar panels and adjusted for size.
So what we had were parts balanced against the laws of physics, but not against stock KSP (To me it feels like KSP parts were balanced for gameplay at an early stage in development and should have been rebalanced later on, with all units define as real world amounts, making it easier for modders and more useful as an educational tool).
End result of that is very powerful systems compared to stock KSP parts.

When Universal Storage 2 was in development we went for a different approach, balancing against the stock parts so that things would be more balanced but less realistic.  Which is why there is a big discrepancy between the two, but hopefully a better play experience.

Fingers crossed KSP 2 will use real world units for everything, litres of liquid fuel, not unknown 'units'.  Amp hours for batteries, rather than EC.

Hello All,

I'm currently reinstalling all my mods since updating to 1.12.4 (I was reluctant to update as you can see).

I was installing (thru CKAN) @DMagic DMagic Orbital Science and found that it needed Universal Storage 1.4 to be installed.  So I installed Uni 1.4 and Uni II Finalized v4.0.0.7.   Launching the Game from CKAN, I immediately get the error from KSP that Uni 1.4 is not supported and the following errors in my log:

I haven't loaded/installed TweakScale as of yet and it didn't show as a dependency so that's my next install.  Same with MiniAVC.

In checking the directories for Uni Stor 1.4 - I see the DDS files for RadialFood, Water, and Oxygen in each of the correct folders.  Could it be that because KSP said it wasn't supported that it's not looking in those folders for these Textures?

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

UPDATE:  After installing TweakScale Everything (Redistribute and KSP Recall dependency) and launching - KSP gives and Unknown status for Tweakscale not working with 1.12.4.   :(

BUT, it did of course fix the TweakScale errors above but added others I'm sure are due to KSP Recall
