Recommended Posts

Has anyone here ever seen the documentary 'when we left earth'? If you have, what did you think of it? And if you haven't, watch it :P some of the stuff on it though is just amazing, it blew me away.

It's an awesome documentary, a must see for any space nut. The interviews show you how much passion they had to get to the moon.

It's up there with "From the earth to the moon". Also the opening music is just amazing.

Edit:

Found the soundtrack on youtube.

Awesome documentary. Does anyone know if the soundtrack has been released? All I've been able to find is the YouTube videos.

I agree, awesome documentary. All of the parts are on Netflix, so I can easily watch it. I just wish they would put a new part out showing the future of the space program.

It's a great documentary. The footage is good quality and there were many little interesting tidbits and sidestories from the people who were there. Was also just interesting to see the veterans nowadays.

The only small minus and it is a small one... Is the slightly too patriotic or selfpromoting tone. :)

There was another series about the spacerace, I think BBC made it, which was somewhat more neutral, but had less detail.

There is "The Space Age The NASA Story" by the BBC.

Edit:

Another great documantary is "Failure Is Not an Option". It's all about Mission Control from Mercury to Apollo.

I've watched all the episodes on Netflix, and I have to say it's the best documentary on Netflix, and the best documentary I've watched. I showed one of my professors the Apollo 8 Launch video in the documentary and he lost his jaw :D

I've seen it and think it's great (the soundtrack too). I always listen to the soundtrack from "Apollo 13" on missions to the Mun though

It is definitely a favorite of mine... Is it bad that I memorized much of the interviews? I can even recite the intro flawlessly...

Anyhow, it's really great! I want to meet some of the old guys sooo badly.
