The slants at the bottom of the (radial tanks?) on the real Proton, slant upward, exposing part of the engine assembly. It's due to these pieces indicated (don't know what they're for. Possibly aerodynamic stability or exhaust protection?)

Thanks for pointing this out. Possibly I will change it, but first I need to model the nozzles and see how they will look.

Modelling the nozzles separate so that they can gimbal all nice.

Why would it matter anyway, you're not doing the real Proton after all, you're making some ALV thingy to shoot little green men into space... :)

No, it will explode, and you will like it.

How does the size of the new stage compare to the size of the old one?

The size difference isn't insignificant, the new one is a bit bigger.

Beale, When your completely done with all your Soviet/Russian Spacecraft, Could you make more 'Merican,Japanese,Indian,Chinese and European Spacecraft? Such as the Orion,Mercury,Skylab,Gemini,Apollo,MOL,CST-100,ISRO Orbital Vehicle,HTV,Shuguang,Kankoh-maru, and the Dragon Spacecraft?

Beale, When your completely done with all your Soviet/Russian Spacecraft, Could you make more 'Merican,Japanese,Indian,Chinese and European Spacecraft? Such as the Orion,Mercury,Skylab,Gemini,Apollo,MOL,CST-100,ISRO Orbital Vehicle,HTV,Shuguang,Kankoh-maru, and the Dragon Spacecraft?

I have just completed Beales tutorial on things for the purpose of making my own mods based on some of those. Specifically Mercury, Gemini, and some service modules.

Of course I have no idea if I have any talent in the area yet, but if you feel like trying it out I would recommend the tutorial.

I doubt it, it's really out of scope for me.

Things like the Fuji and ATV are more one off. little fun projects.

In reality, there is an endless pit of Russian stuff, and I am digging that pit deeper (I'm not complaining, I want to reach the bottom!)

Could we maybe have the markings on the side of the rocket in red for a little more color? A flag decal wouldn't be too bad either.

Quite likely! If not red, then orange.

Flag decal, I will have that one the second stage.

And new ATV needs flag decal...

You can backup the existing engine: rename the folder and part.cfg's name to ALV_Engine_A1, or something else, then you can keep both :) .

For the new one, balance is:

Mass = 16 (17 maybe?)

maxThrust = 2700

LF = 9720

OX = = 11880

So, it has quite a lot more fuel than the previous ALV, but now has a Dry/Wet ratio in line with stock 3.75m tanks.

Else you might have a disaster similiar to BobCats Lunokhod, which required a special plug-in to work before rovers were added, and since then never really started working properly (I still have some torque issues :( )

Yes, unfortunately this is probably the best method. Stock wheels are badly in need of an overhaul, which hopefully is what Beta is all about. Current setup in Unity is only well understood by a few (I really rely on those few for help making previous wheels) and in-game wheels are too unpredictable (rolling uphill?).

I love that you have labeled one of the bins "smooth jazz".

It gets the Geckos in the mood :wink:
