Also, I've been asked for the Buran-Energia file... Here it is! Yeah, this one is kinda cheaty with its reaction wheels inside the cargo bay and poor-made Mainsail placement (I was kinda lazy to fix that).

This may be a common question, but is there a reason why Tantares does not use Raster's? Too much work needed to do, doesn't fit the feel? I know this is probably a common question asked of you.

Your question: It should use RPM, if you have it installed. The IVAs will auto switch to the screens.

My first Tantares missions in KSP 1.0.3/1.0.4 were Mir-2 and Buran on Energia and a MZhM-1 block on Zenith...

Just going to throw a couple of random, but apropos, thoughts out onto the table:

The vostok redux looks absolutely amazing. The existing vostok is really the only thing in the tantares pack that I didn't really like, and it was mostly due to the decoupler for the capsule. The prototype screenshots youve posted look incredible and I can't wait to try them out.

The "big-g", is one of only three things I'm missing to release a "nasa total conversion" equivalent to my "soviet space program total conversion" mod. The other two are a two-bell 2.5m engine to use as a titan II , and the third is something to use as the "Langley" lunar lander, a light 1-man lander that was designed as a possible companion to a lunar gemini mission. If the big-g is released, a two-bell engine can be made without looking too horrible from stock parts or added to tantaresLV, and I can find a good way to make the langley out of the command-chair and have it fit in the tantares TKS 1.875m cargo bay (so far, it's been incredibly difficult), I'll be able to get that nasa total conversion released and have it ONLY depend on tantares/tantaresLV and omsk (for the redstone and early atlas) instead of needing to pull in fasa.

I guess what I'm getting at is - a huge enormous "thank you" , as your incredible talent and work on this mod not only stands out in it's own right, but it enables others in the community to release related projects.

Again - the highest of fives.

I'll absolutely be doing a Titan II at some point, but your ideas could work fine.

The Salyut setup itself is great! Like others have said I think ETS straight away.

Let me be honest - and say something quite mean: I think the stock radiator textures are very space wasteful in their current form, honestly.

I was thinking about releasing it, but I want to try to work a bit more on the texture before release.

For the radiators, do you think it would be possible to make them work like actual radiators? (I'm asking because I haven't still tested the new temperature system)

Yup, I think 100%

Copied from the stock radiator configs, I think this is all that is required:

	
emissiveConstant = 0.90
heatConductivity = 0.75
thermalMassModifier = 5
radiatorHeadroom = 0.5

i have noticed something with only one of the ships i have been using at the moment it seems like the Minotaur made by curt parts like to over heat for no reason while in orbit i dont know if its just that ship or if its other ships or if its just being caused by the parts

This could be a mishap with the recent stock heating system. Do radiators help? I haven't even tried the new update yet, I'm still waiting on a couple of dependencies to update to 1.0.4

On the technical side, did you map the radiator surface to the stock radiator texture, or did you copy the texture to your own textures?

@Djmellomaniac, I likely have to reattach parts to update them. I'll try to get it done ASAP.

Also now that I'm bachelor in aerodynamics and basically free since today, I can look more into configs, this summer will be of modding and writing one, I plan on overhauling TACLS configs for making them along the historical reality for those who like doing historical missions like me (CO2 scrubber to Soyuz OM, one week worth of supplies for Vostok etc) :P

To answer both your questions on textures, I'm using my own textures here, with the stock textures as reference (so no dependencies, etc).

Actually it differs from stock, which uses normal maps (Which is kind of pointless for their appearance IMHO)

You can (arguably) get comparable results to a bump map with the specular map alone.

Baseline:

  • VAB
  • Launchpad
  • Communication (Concrete block with radio tower)
  • (Generic) Housing
  • (Generic) Lights, Boxes, Building greeble.
  • (Generic) Bunker / Controls building, etc.

If you're going to make KK launch sites, I've always thought it would be cool to have alternate pads as KSC. Maybe one like Antares's pad at Wallops, and a Titan II inspired pad with a large erector tower, and some other ones too!

Oh, that's a good idea too! Just expand a lot onto the KSC with a whole bunch of towers themed as the rockets you've made's pads.
