I reworked my 7K-LOK to be much more accurate to the original. Still not perfect, but she flies nicely and the Kontact docking system works well.

I reconfigured the entire payload stack in order to use two payload fairings; one for the 7K-LOK and one for the LK.

Here's the cute little rocket on the pad with both sets of fairings in place (Beale, I even got the right grid-fins on this time!):

And during the trans-Munar injection burn, with only the LK fairing remaining:

Of a sort. There's the Kontact probe, and I'm using it with the T053B passive port. It works fine, though not strictly accurate.

Edit: I'm going to try configuring the top of the LK RCS pod as a docking port just to see what happens.

Another edit: Evidently I have more to learn about how docking port configs work.

Meh: I give up. The kludge will work fine for now.

I'm not much into rocketry but I gotta say that I'm starting to really see the charm of those what-might-have-been russian crafts. Just read the other day about the LOK and Zond on the wiki and now I saw this. Russian spacecraft look so much like 50's cars and I love the look of those cars from the 40-50's! Heh, now why didn't I mention this the first time I posted here? Tantares is like a 50's car parts galore!

Salutations once again folks!

I have just finished up the RemoteTech and TACLS configs!

RemoteTech DL Here

TACLS DL Here

(Download and place in your Tantares folder, delete old config, rename the new one to what the old one was.)

All the Tantares antenna have been balanced as far as electric charge consumption gos bearing in mind not just range, but cone angle and placement in the tech tree etc. Also nearly all Tantares antenna have had their tech node reassigned to fit better with stock and RemoteTech antenna as well as provide a smoother progression. Of note is the L-LG1 Low Gain Antenna which has had its range reduced slightly from my earlier config to find it a niche between the two high tier RT omni antenna. Also the V-CA "Lance" Antenna, every RemoteTech users favorite omni antenna has had its electric charge consumption greatly increased for balance reasons, plus it gives you a good reason for all those solar panels!

As for TACLS, all crewed parts that reasonably should have life support supply's now has them. A quick run down...

T637A Orbital Module now has 12 person days of supply's, up from 6, this makes Munar flybys feasible.

T579A Habitation Module has the same supply's as the T637A Orbital Module. Balance.

the HAMAL Orbital Module and HAMAL Cargo Module now both have 36 person days of supply's, this makes them actually useful for resupplying stations.

the TK-OB05A Orbital Block now has 18 person days of supply's and the longer TK-OB10B Orbital Block has 36.

The Polaris Orbital Block now has 18 person days of supply's.

On a final note. The RemoteTech config is basically done and any future changes will be very minor. The TACLS config on the other hand is a first pass, I have not had a great deal of time to determine how the addition of all that mass has affected the craft that got TACLS support. That said, again, any future changes will probably not be all that big and shouldn't adversely affect craft in flight.

Looking forward to feedback and constructive criticism.

I am not sure what is going on but there seems to be a bug. The probes that have always on integrated connections (Such as the Pol cargo and control block) don't seem to work and I have to add an external antenna to them. This is true with both the cfg files in the Tantares download and the cfg files in your post.

As always I deleted the parts database file before starting KSP. I checked my remote tech and found it was 1.6.5 and there was a newer version so I updated to 1.6.7 and restarted. (After deleting the parts database file though I don't think it makes a difference in this last case.) Not sure what to make of this. There were no warnings or errors in the debug window.

The Pol control block took a major remote tech hit about 3 Tantares versions ago (The original Pol remote tech file gave it a massive 8 MgM range innately which sort of meant you never needed any omni antenna ever for a probe if you really didn't want it. I still like the pol for its size and shape as a probe core but its days of being able to be a standalone comsat are gone)

Thanks you for doing your due diligence, it is so nice to basically rule out user error right off the bat! As Revenant said the Pols lack of antenna range dose seem to be intentional even if it was not my intention. I think the reason it use to have such a powerful built in antenna is that the Cygnus on which it is based has very small, essentially unmodelable, (internal?) antenna. As such it is likely that no separate part for it will be forthcoming or even possible. Given that you should be able to use the default Tantares craft, as intended, no matter what mods you have installed in order for it to be considered "compatible", I am treating this as a bug and will try and figure something out for it that is not as completely broken as 8Mm Omni quite clearly is.

Thanks for the feed back!

-Foxx

P.S. I have also decided to re-balance most resupply craft in terms of supply limits to better reflect that they will, most likely, be used to resupply space stations that have on-board carbon extractors and water purifiers and as such will carry less O2 and water in favor of food. This should mean that it is reasonable to have them carry a useful amount of supply's without getting WAY to heavy.

I do my best to try to figure things out myself first. I used to do tech support and most of the time I can figure it out. However, don't assume you can rule out user error, like everyone else I make a lot of those as well.

Both this post and Revenant503's post suggest I didn't make myself clear. I am aware they are supposed to have less range, but they don't work at all, if you put the POL on a launch clamp it gets signal. (low down so it won't break when it falls.) You

press space to release the clamps and it looses signal. There it is, sitting on the launch pad with no connection. Unless I really misread the range in the VAB, I would expect that it should work here.

@leszek

Humm now that IS a problem... Can't seem to replicate for the moment. When you right click Pol in the VAB it should have two modules, one called Signal Processor and one called Technology Perk each with some info under them. Can you confirm it has both of them? Also what game mode are you playing?

Edit: Still not sure but may have a solution. Open the _Extra_RemoteTechControl file in your Tantares folder with a text editor and make sure there is an entry that looks like this.

@PART[Pollux_Control_A]:NEEDS[RemoteTech]
{
%MODULE[ModuleSPU] {}

%MODULE[ModuleRTAntennaPassive]
{
%TechRequired = unmannedTech
%OmniRange = 300000

%TRANSMITTER
{
%PacketInterval = 0.3
%PacketSize = 2
%PacketResourceCost = 15.0
}
}
}

Ok checking things out:

First the Vab:

Pol

-Signal Processor: Remote Control Capable

-Technology Perk: Integrated Omni: 300 KM Always on.

Prosper

-Signal Processor: Remote Control Capable

-Technology Perk: Integrated Omni: 300 KM Always on. (Really? Only 3?)

.......

At this point I had a sudden D'oh moment. I had just noticed the OKTO has the same stetup. Which caused me to realize I never tested the stock parts. Hooked it up with the same test and low and behold it had the same issue. Which means I am barking up the wrong tree, it can't have anything to do with the Tantares configs in particular.

I am terribly sorry for wasting your time. In my head I think of the Pol and other Tantares parts as having extra perks over the stock RT probe cores and therefore being a different can of worms so I never made the connection.

{Embarrassed}

hello Beale i have a question in this picture of the ASTP

http://i.imgur.com/utesb8S.png

what engine is that on the Apollo analogue?

i can't seem to find it

I can answer that! I made it. It's a scaled up version of the Fuji/Polaris LFO engine using my TweakScale config. I may replace it with something else in the future though.

Is Tantares configured for the DRE? I have already searched the thread but couldn't find any conclusive answer. Combining the two yielded some pretty weird results...

Dre isn't compatible with 1.04 what version are you even using?

It's from a few pages earlier but only now had I a chance to play with KSP+Tantares more. :)

(...)

Lab - my station science config might be out of date (haven't used the mod for a while, sorry!) I'll check what the issue is. IIRC it only require one scientist in the lab.

(...)

Thanks for feedback! :)

Oh, I didn't mean Station science (I don't even have that mod), but the stock science processing lab feature. The Mobile Processing Lab gives like.. 0.2 science per day, if I remember correctly, while the Tantares' Quantum does this:

uBAqlHY.png

Data and my top scientist Orgar are inside, yet nothing is happening. When I checked the save file the difference I noticed was an EXPERIMENTS block. The stock lab had a list of experiments there, while the Quantum's list was empty. Hopefully that will help. :)

And another thing, is it difficult to add flags on the capsules?

Thanks! :D

hey Beale:

you already have build the Blok D upper stage.... whats about the KVRB upperstage for teh Proton ? (a later version called KVTK is propesed to be used by teh Angara A5)

OK, you've convinced me to give Tweakable Everything another go. I've had horrible luck with it in the past. Maybe things will go better this time.

You probably just miss-typed, but it's TweakScale that you want. TweakableEverything is certainly helpful, but not required. A warning, the 1.0.4 updated, and the Tantares 29 update borked some stuff. Shouldn't cause any problems, there just might be some parts that don't have scaling controls on them. Otherwise, safe to use.
