[1.12.X] Tantares - Stockalike Soyuz and MIR [26.0][18.12.2023][Soyuz Revamp Again]

This is a really interesting one for me. It's like a Gemini, or early Soyuz, but in the 21st Century, if I read about it right?

Low mass (3 or 4 tons), no docking mechanism (Very shaky info on whether it has one or not) and only limited maneuvering capabilities.

I.E. more of a proof of human flight capabilities rather than your go to Moon-Orbiter / LEO craft. A way for India to develop its technologies.

Many thanks!

I think it has a primitive Gemini-like docking system to dock with things.

It does have an docking mechanism on the top of the Spacecraft has 4 RCS thrusters and capable of carrying a crew of 3 for 7 days so it is not that bad but yeah it would be all shaky and crappy but i think india is making good steps xd

Very pretty!

Two new parts, both are like an increase version of stock parts.

Verniers.

Look'n spiffy, but why an increased decoupler? if anything I'd see a role for a decreased stack decoupler for gentler satellite deployment which would go well with the fact that that it's slimmer and flusher than the stock one

Sorry poor English, I mean an increase in size (1.25m version of the 0.625m decoupler), but not necessarily an increase in power.

All this talk of verniers gave me the idea of trying them out on the N1. I've been launching her with a heavier payload and found her to be wallowing through the gravity turn, wasting fuel and delta-V in the process. After fitting out the first and second stages with 120 kN verniers (I think they are from Ven's revamp, but don't hold me to it), her performance was right back on the money.

Are you telling me you have so many mods that you don't even know what's from what anymore? :P

No, those are from SXT if I'm not mistaken. xD

I will neither confirm nor deny that my mod collection is a cherry-picked conglomeration of odds and ends. :D

Edit: As I thought, the big verniers are Ven's rework of the Mark 55 "Thud" engines.

Is your PPTS (PTK NP) still in development? Here's a photo of a mock-up interior (Not mine):

480022_original.jpg

The panel with MFD screens is shown in folded position.

Not sure about how many crew it can hold - seems to be configurable (i.e. 2 cosmonauts and cargo or 4 cosmonauts and no cargo).

More photos (including Angara and Soyuz capsule interior): http://zelenyikot.livejournal.com/76940.html (Text in Russian)

Beale released a WIP version a while back. That pic is of the 4-crew version, for lunar/interplanetary missions. There is also a 6-man LEO version.

900 Pages!

Very nice

What's the thrust level and ISP on the verniers?

Currently 17KN @ 290 Vac ISP, but that may be changed a lot.

Yep, still developing it.

These interior shots are great, thanks!

Beale,

Could you please post a link to my CLS configs under 'Mod Compatibility'?

Link in my sig.

Done.

LES

No radial decouplers in revamp, the old ones were made in the dark ages (the period when stock radial decouplers didn't work). Stock parts are more than fine now.

Also I am writing a style guide, mainly for myself but some may find it fun to read. Here is a sample (auto translated, sorry for errors).

	[Naming]

- 1st Char: Initial of craft name (T for Tantares, A for Alnair)
- 2nd Char: Initial of part type (D for decoupler, E for engine, FT for fuel tank)
- 3rd Char: Hyphen
- 4th Char: Diameter
- Radial = R
- 0.625 = 0
- 1.25 = 1
- 2.5 = 2
- 3.75 = 3
- Other = M
- 5th Char: Mass (1st digit only)

- For fuel tanks, then follow with "hyphen" + "LFO amount"
- For engines, then follow with "hyphen" + "thrust"
- For decouplers, then follow with "hyphen" + "ejection force"

[Synonyms]

- Engine : Rocket Motor

[0.625m Connection Point]

- Indent 0.5m Diameter Top, 0.4365 Diameter Bottom, 0.035m Depth.
- Base Grey 41.
- Highlight Grey 55.
- Interior Black Circle.

The 0.625m connection point loosely delivers this, fans of hoojiwana's work may see it familiar - I'm a big fan.

Where the naming system delivers like this:

TE-11-300 "Walrus" Rocket Motor
TFT-11-765 Fuel Tank
TV-R0-17 "Otter" Rocket Motor
TD-10-150 Decoupler

Are you keeping the old ones and just not revamping them? Or are you getting rid of them?

Also, love that X-1 shuttle.

Is there any chance we could get a short and stubby variant of the LES for the early generation Soyuz? It hasn't always been long like that.

Probably not, sorry. It would be a little too bloaty IMO

They're being removed, yup.

As is the V-2, that is now gone.

Umm........any chance you could keep the decouplers? I have a bunch of craft files that would be invalid without them, and I have a feeling I'm not the only one.

judging by the look of the new models next update is save breaking. correct?

A little........

- - - Updated - - -

As of now, the only part that will be truly removed is the radial decoupler.....other parts are *just* getting an art pass, and/or being tweaked in the CFGs. There are some new parts too.

The V-1 is being moved to Taerobee, if I'm not mistaken....
