I had a minor issue with PPTS. Anyone else getting it?

On reentry, I lost half my ablator before effects started, and did not slow down for quite some time.

I ended up landing with a *very* small amount of ablator left.

No, you need to use RasterPropMonitor (see my sig below) to have a functional IVA. I think the only stock prop that you can interact with is the speed indicator (you can switch which speed mode it's in).

The throttle is also interactive. You can drag the throttle up and down while in IVA. That's how it was last time I checked anyway. Not sure about whether it still works like that.

I've had this on most re-entry profiles post 1.04, with all crafts.

It sounds as if you took a steep reentry profile and slammed into the atmosphere. The heat physics changed with the release of 1.04.

The reason I ask is for purposes of inclusion in my SSP career mode mod. I tried out the beta this morning and it looks pretty slick!

I'm afraid no, not likely. There is still much to do.

But, you're free to use the beta how you wish, even re-distribute it.

Wow! Neat. Didn't know that was in the immediate pipeline.

1. I'd make the fabric texture a bit coarser, and more pronounced. No point in having it at all if it can't be made out from a distance.

2. 1.25m – 0.9375m docking node adapter?

3. Solar panels? The Fuji panels don't really do it for me for ATV.

4. Loose the docking port on the orbital engine? I've never used it myself, nor seen anyone use it. Not a huge deal though.

5. Forward sensors/windows. What's the plan with those?

6. MP SM tank greeble. Anyway you could really go to town on that tank with the greeble? It's a great tank, and greebly tanks are nice. :)

On a side note, the new Lance antenna is a bit too thin now. It's not easy to see, and it's just a bit too skinny. Perhaps it's good for Vostok now, but terrible for everything else. Scaling it up with the TweakScale config helps a bit. The thinness makes working with it a little tough. Anyway that antenna could get a bit thicker at some point?

Thank you both for immediate feedback :) Yes texture needs a bit of a re-think.

5. Yep, should add these (They are currently missing).

6. Not sure yet, but since a 2.5m monopropellant tank is a little obsolete from the get-go, why not.

7. Lance can be made wider, sure :)

I think the best solution for that would be to have @planeguy868 throw together a re-texturing of the PPTS. It'd be reasonably close to the right dimensions. You could also scale up the Hamal reentry capsule.

Hey Beale, I know spaceplanes aren't super your forte, but I had a question - as a lover of all things spaceplane, do you think you'd ever make a few Buran parts? OPT already has an RCS system nosecone, but there's no rear RCS pods out there or dedicated buran OMS replica as far as I know. I have a feeling you'll say no, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask, right? c: I love the pack, it's fun making frankenstein ships.

Loving the PPTS design so far! Propulsive landings would be interesting to integrate into the model/add with textures. If that's the route your taking, are you also adding landing legs into the underside? or would you wait post-unity 5 to add those to avoid any changes in the landing leg mechanics?

I also tried to make some Fallout stuff. My absolute favorite is the Delta IX rocket plane. It is using the Tantares nuclear engine and has a decent DeltaV but you definitely need a booster to launch it for the very low TWR. I haven't tested this new design yet.

Looks awesome! I like all the fallout universe crafts, plus this one reminds me of the Silbervogel. Do you have a craft file?

Oh please no! *facepalm* I wanna use the ATV for 1.25m docking ports too, y'know! :huh:

Besides it'd break the lego element when trying to use that part creatively.

He's talking about the aft end, not the forward docking adapter. The issue with that is, that the ATV SM is 2.5m, and the ATV body is just a little wider than 2.5. If you split the cargo area and the SM, you'd get an oddball size.

Agh! my bad. Somehow blanked and didn't quite read service module properly. :P Been up yet another night. Hmm.. I think the way ATV is currently works best.
