[Mechjeb] What do i do in order to get Mechjeb to stabilise my VTOL aircraft?

I want to use KAS to create a VTOL cargo carrier, but the huge mass of menu options confuses me.

Don't you think that if you really need mechjeb to fly your aircraft since it's too unstable, that you'd have some design fault somewhere you need to fix?

I dont use mechjeb so idk, but just asking.

It'll depend on what ascent profile your VTOL will need to reach orbit. If it behaves more like a space plane, S.S.A.S on surface settings is your friend. If it behaves more like a rocket, try the Ascent Guidance. If it requires engine switching or other events that aren't tied to staging, you'll still have to go hands-on for those parts of the flight. Might have to do something like handle lift-off manually, then switch over to automated guidance once the craft is in the right mode. There are other mods out there that supposedly make VTOLs and MJ more friendly with each other, but I haven't tried them, as I haven't done a lot with VTOLs.
