Hello to all...

I am having a problem where some of the parts (wheels) are falling through the terrain after I have pulled them from a KIS container and 'dropped' them to the ground. Unless I grab them very quick and do not miss them, they sink through the terrain (runway at ksc, grass at ksc, etc) and sink until they explode. Sometimes causing rest of craft to detonate as well.....

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks.

Take it your using KIS and KAS and if you know how to edit the cfg's try this and don't drop them http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/86343-Portable-Rover-Components-New-project-from-ASET-%28up-29-07-14%29?p=1823147&viewfull=1#post1823147 put them in your EVE backpack you can only get a couple of piece at a time the main frame you can drop where you want

if you use what, I posted when you drag them out of the backpack move them to where they will go and release then you can fine tune them.

Hi, I spoke with Chris and know that the advanced animation plugin won't be updated any more, but can you please update this mod with using firespitter or anyother animation module out there? it is very cool mod, shame if it dies

EDIT- Already been done :)

EDIT- Have it in Firespitter or Stock ModuleAnimateGeneric take your pick.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, this seems to be a mess in 1.0, even with the fix that converts it to stock animations, right? I'm guessing its the problem with attachment nodes being inverted, but using the latest version of KIS and the stock animation patch, I can't get anything to attach correctly in the field, and if I try it in the builder, only the bumpers attach (not the wheels) and they attach backwards.

Here if you copy what, I posted you can build it with KIS and yes, I also use the stock animations http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/113111-1-0-Kerbal-Inventory-System-%28KIS%29-1-1?p=1827607&viewfull=1#post1827607

EDIT- Here are the cfg files you can just copy this over to your KSP/Gamedata folder and over ride having just alittle trouble with the nodes it does have the Stock patch in it and just KIS settings https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/72893034/help/ASET.zip You have to use the drill looking thing to get the node's to show on bumpers.

That works great! Thank you very much! This thing is the only reasonable way I've found of getting a small rover aboard a LEM-sized lander.

You need to override the volume of the wheels, they end up taking way to much space with default settings. And when pressing X to attach the wheels, they only go into surface attach mode, not node attach mode.

As for the nodes themselves, I'm wondering of we could reoriantate them so that the bumpers and wheels will attach in the default way, instead of backwards and upside down.

There has to be a better way to write it and think, I might be attaching to the wrong node to get them to work like the bumpers.

So when I did get the rover partially built (four wheels, one bumper, one seat), I sat bill onto it.. and then got lag, the rover parts were highlighted and the highlight color was switching from red to yellow in a flashing fashion. There were also things on each part that looked like health bars.

Also, the game crashed shortly after. Time to throw computer out the window! (jk)

LOL what did you do and think, I see a better way to write it so off to the Kerbal Lab :)

EDIT- HEHE thought he cut his self putting it together but see now it's just TextureReplacer Reflective

EDIT- Found away to make it work like KAS did but not have to change where the nodes are pointing :(

EDIT- Got it to Work like KAS did :) just copy this over to your KSP/GameData folder and over-ride https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/72893034/AIES_Patches/ASET%20.zip

That works a little better, though the seats try to attach via node instead of just surface attach. And the wheels still take up too much volume :P However, I still experience that strange bug I reported earlier. I'll try to ask in the KIS thread with my output_log, but I doubt kospy will answer my question.

KIS must have changed something before the last update you could put 2 of any part in you backpack now, I can't put any ?

So thanks to MeCripp, we've been able to get the Portable Rover Components to work with KIS. However, I'm experience an issue where it starts glowing, little health bars appear on each part, and lag until crash.

Here's the link to my output_log.txt https://www.dropbox.com/s/wbllpv8qh4gazr5/output_log.txt?dl=0

KSP version 1.0.2 32-bit

Windows 7 professional 64-bit

Double checked, and no hamsters were in my computer case.

You guys forgot to tweak those parts for the new thermodynamics of KSP 1.0. They are overheating from something. Take a look at this guide.

EDIT- changed all the Module ModuleAnimateGeneric and added the New stock heat and some more stuff the best, I could by looking at close stock parts hope it helps

Well, if a little bit of heat was just the issue, that was fine by me! The VAB is on fire every other day! :) Anyway, that fixed that error. I am finding a new error:

tumblr_ngnj68L30x1rpsnwro6_r1_1280.png

It goes away after EVA, and the error text appears after one second intervals, instead of 1 mili-second intervals, which means it might not be too bad.

I'm not sure if the wheel volume set by KIS by default is too high, but you'd need a 1000 volume container to hold all of the parts (4 wheels, platform, 2 bumpers, and seats). Also, the bumpers are really fragile. One little bump, and Broken!

Lastly, when right clicking the parts, the action button appears twice (For instance: Right click a wheel, and "Deploy Wheel" appears twice instead of once).

Glad we can keep this mod alive. No other lunar rovers out there.

Check to see if you have the patch file still in the folder if so delete it that will fix the double button and seen in your log some of them errors look like there coming from FASA.

EDIT- So if you can test it with out a FASA craft.

The life of a KSP player: Install, install mods, play, install more mods, play some more, complete uninstall. Fresh install, install mods, play.... :P Sometimes, to throw people for a loop, we move the whole directory!

So yeah, guess it was FASA :roll eyes: The little go kart is working fine now. Just some minor issues, such as the wheel nodes need to be brought in a little bit so that the wheel parts look like they are attached, and perhaps a couple of nodes on the platform for the seats instead of relying on surface attaching.

Oh! and I just noticed that your latest patch has something wrong in it: The KRoverPlatform.cfg has a ~ at the end.
