Where the Kerbal Money sign is from

It's not from the forum, they just look similar. I noticed it too.

The forum is on vBulletin. The logo they use is a stylised 'v'. In KSP, the currency "Roots" uses a stylised square root symbol. They look much the same.

It's a shame they felt the need to officially drop the name "roots" (though I understand their reasons). Using a mathematical concept as the unit of currency is amusing.

I think we should continue to call them roots here on the forum. I'm rooting for that idea. :)

I dunno, maybe cos in Australianese root means doing the horizontal docking manoeuvre.

My dirty mind is translating that as "coitus". Is it right?

But who cares about that? It's a local thing I doubt many people understand.

A nice story could've been made from all this. Kerbals, in the past could've used carrot-like rooty vegetables as currency.

On the South Coast of England, the word 'root' is also used by the locals as a slang term for a man's 'private part'.

Totally. Not just Australians either. Makes me s...... every time someone uses it.

"I got 10,000 roots!"
