joystick for ksp

They are indeed, but the camera in KSP is not a point of view control.

This is actually a good point. I have an old Microsoft USB joystick (which replaced a much better Microsoft Sidewinder 3D, which had a hat and three axis etc but unfortunately dated itself with it's DB-15 joystick port connector :/), and I was thinking of setting it up with KSP as I've been doing a lot of plane stuff lately.

However, I generally do my plane stuff in third person, and yeah, traditional flight sim setups aren't so great for that.

I think I need a third hand at this rate :/

Or one of those Oculus Rift things.

I'm interested in "Thrustmaster HOTAS X" because it looks pretty good.

I was also considering this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390706244997?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

because its relatively cheap and as far as I know Logitech is a quite decent company

what do you guys think about these two?

if i were you, I'd choose Hotas X

obviously because it's hotas, it just feels better.

but logitech has way better customer services (at least in my place, aka HongKong)

and this becomes very important if it happens you have to claim the warranty

take my experience as an example, my electronics die very easily, because my house is right next to the sea and is super humid.

i often find myself having to go to the customer service centers of varies brands.

sony, HTC, Asus, logitech, canon, you name it...

among the many i have been to, logitech is among the best. they dont even ask why or how the thing broke and grab me a new replacement.

I've had both. My Logitech did last for quite a while, but the HOTAS X just makes things more fun. I use the rocker throttle on the rear of the main throttle to control forwards/backwards translation, and the POV hat for other directions. Docking is now an absolute joy. I find the actual joystick on the HOTAS X more comfortable, but that's fairly subjective. I do like the tweakable spring stiffness for the joystick. The HOTAS X throttle has a 'detent' about halfway through its range of motion. I wasn't expecting that when I got it and I sort of went 'euuughhh' when I realized, however I have since changed my mind. Even with it, the throttle has a much wider range of motion and thus accuracy than the small throttle on the Wingman 3D.

While the Logitech is good, I find the HOTAS X is just much better.

i have a complete ch setup (or at least i do when i splice the cables where the kitten chewed them off, good thing i have all those ee skills) that i hardly ever use in ksp. of course i dont really fly a lot of space planes, im more of a navigator so i do most of my flying in space where precise analog control is quite unnecessary and often a hindrance.
