How did you manage to get decals on your craft?

Custom part someone made for me. I only use it in my main install, with copies of my craft files specifically for use with it so I don't post anything that isn't fully-stock.

The part is basically an invisible, massless solar-panel style flat plate with my company logo on it, designed to be radially-attached.

Could you also test the Tethys 2? It should have better armor with the same core design.

So, after refitting my NX-series ships with my older ASM Evo MK1 and some of them with Zekes' Popper, I feel pretty confident that my NX-series is fit for modern KSP combat.

As part of this, I test-shot an NX-3 with a popper from above at a very slight angle, where the hull thins a bit for the missile tube to protrude.

The ship lost hull plating behind and around the tube, but no major internals were lost, nor was the re-load capable tube. The NX-3 also checked out in terms of flight-worthiness post-hit.

It's kinda fitting, since the NX-3 is only 10 parts or so more than the Kenji-class Drek, and has similar armament: i-beams and up to two missiles inside the hull.

Two ships, hugely different in terms of layout and shape, in the end up being quite the same. Very cool.

I'm going to try a slightly up armed version of the Kenji next, with extra fuel in the top and bottom, one or two more poppers, and perhaps a rear mounted I-beam position. I want to get these things in the 5k range in terms of fuel but I don't want to compromise armor doing so.

While having range is great, I've begun focusing heavily on functional aesthetics in my craft. If I REALLY need to take a ship somewhere legitimately, I make sure to have way to mount drop-tanks or have accompanying tankers fill 'er up on the way there or post-arrival.

That'd be a fun challenge for a battle: Start with low fuel, and each turn try and find a spot to have a non-combat ship mine ore, and then you'd have to fight for control of refinery stations.

Yeah I'd like to have a fuel range kind of game, maybe with bases, so that we can finally have some logic to our fights rather than straight turn-based bludgeoning of each other's fleets... perhaps defend one's base, base is made of say 5 seperate ships landed or in orbit, and standard ship rules apply to them. That way if one wanted to go for the base the enemy would flatten their ships and then later on kill the base. Would promote some more tactics to both defend the base and to kill the enemy ships. And fuel use would be more interesting, no more crazy orbits, they'd all play a part in defending the base.

EDIT: new 70 ton Jiji class destroyer/ Heavy Patrol ship. This is the size I've been missing, and it's finally here.

I've started going almost completely for aesthetics and long range while giving up on armour. I just can't keep up with the high part counts needed. I can stick weapons on the front and the spaceplane parts are tough though.

Mainly just use them for mothership duties now as they have a lot of dV.

Sure thing. I'd likely bring in some of my more direct-combat type warships like the NX-1 or NX-3, along with the NX-8. (The NX-2 Odin is a bit of a super-heavily-armed, super-laggy missile taxi TBH)

EDIT: If you want, I can try and help you upgrade the Dragon Lore design a bit, since I'm always willing to accept a good challenge.

Kenji and Jiji are both ready for download:

"The Kenji Class Drekevak Frigate was designed as one of the dozens of attempts to make the Drekevak XIV Cruiser, the old but still best hull in the Zokesian Armory, smaller and stronger, with longer range. The Kenji was built with the dozens of mistakes in previous designs in mind, and the resulting craft saw gains in all critic areas of capability. The long- revered spaced fuel tank system was abandoned to fit more fuel, as it had never been successful in practice, raising the range to 3,000 m/s. The longstanding problem of the broken back of the XIV was solved by shortening the rear of the craft and removing a missile from the barrel and shortening it. To protect the spine, lifted wing was applied over the top and bottom of the craft, including the upright cockpit (which is not used for combat but for ferrying and rescue), which gave the ship a pagoda-like appearance. The forward two lifted wings covered four I-beams, the first for a service Drekevak, while retaining the minimum 3 missiles in the nose. Many of the exterior attachments were deleted or moved inward, and the engine fuel flow was changed from through fuel tanks to through the spine of the ship itself, increasing control even with battle damage. With the new improvements, the already strong XIV was transformed into a lighter, lower part count, longer range, more flexible and better armored craft. The Kenji."

"Further Kenji development was to create a smaller craft out of the already small 90 ton Kenji. Named the Jiji class, this ship carried one less guided missile but was 20 tons lighter and featured even shorter length, slightly less fuel range, and the same compliment if I-beams."

I'm dumb, don't worry about this xD

Kenji is 90 tons, Jiji is 70.

I'd be down for a battle, just not this weekend - I'll be gone for a concert the next two days. After that for sure.

EDIT: Interesting test: I made two test ships, one of them was a bit more weight added to a Kenji, and the other a lengthened Kenji. Both snapped in half with relative frequency, and yet Kenji doesn't. It seems there's a critical length/weight stress point that older Drekevaks were tipping over, which caused them to snap, so the shorter and lighter a ship the less likely it will be to break it's back. Good to know for the future, I've scrapped the Likkate and the Taikan -Class Drekevaks that I planned because they'll for sure snap under the extra fuel and weapons they'd each have.
