64-bit crash when loading into either editor

Loads into the world fine. I cannot isolate which mod is causing this issue.

KSP Win x64 is very unstable. Try to replicate in 32bit.

Also, post the *entire* output log (from the KSP_Data folder) when you post log; snippets are almost never enough for diagnosing things. Note it will be too big to fit in a post, so upload it to dropbox.

And hey, welcome to the forums! :)

Thanks for reply, try this mediafire link. I have a lot of memory in use so I doubt the 32-bit client would be able to load in with this stuff? I only recently purchased KSP when they added 64-bit support specifically due to the memory issues I read about.

Yeah, that log confirms it's a KSP 0.24.2 Windows x64 issue, not anything else; the *entire* stacktrace is within stock code.

Your best bet then will be to dual-boot into Linux (i.e. install it side-by-side with Windows) and use KSP 0.24.2 Linux x64 (which is stable).

Hi all, do not Forget that using the x64 bits version you need to set your graphics quality to level 4 ( beautiful ) or the game will crash on game start (or loading a save), it will create that same error that you have there and crash

Check your configs and if you like check this post (it have some configs for the graphic cards that helps on running the 64 bits)

So it's not showing which mod is causing it, it's just a generic memory issue? I guess I'll have to wait until Unity/Squad fixes their game to support modern systems, then. Thank you for replies anyway. Maybe I'll try to reduce the number of mods, but I didn't think I had that many to begin with really.

Not only is it not showing what mod is causing it, mods aren't causing it. Or rather, their mere presence (not any particular mod) is showcasing bugs in the stock code.

Install linux, the KSP x64 for that is stable.

Any recommended version of Linux to go for?

i just posted about the same thing in another thread. I'm experiencing the same type of crash, and for some reason it's gotten a lot worse over the past few days. A quick search will come up with many other posts like this that reference the same error "Unknown caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module Unknown at 0033:038e0000" and/or "Write to location 038e0000 caused an access violation". So, I hope this gets addressed soon... but in the meantime i'm Def going to try the linux thing..

yeah whatever it means that's the reason given in all the error logs i have. I've read just about every post about the x64 crashes and tried all the suggestions except for running in linux. So while we wait for the windows x64 issue/s to get addressed i'm crossing my fingers that i'll be able get it up and running on Linux... will be my first time messing with Linux actually so should be a fun learning experience. I guess these things are to be expected for a game that's under "heavy development".

Well, has anybody on this forum post gotten the same crash when loading up a ship? My ship has literally FOUR PARTS and the game acts like it has 900. When I go to launch, the music starts playing, and the game acts like it's loading(my Toolbar icons pop up, and it says Time Warp: 1X), but once the Time Warp message goes off, the wheel rolling sound starts, and occasionally I get the random "streaks". Once thi happens, the game refuses to load and..

Kerbal Space Program 0.25, x64 & its 88 mods

4:23 to 4:50(about 15 minutes of that is just starting the game up)

However, let's hope the Win x64 flakiness *does* get fixed in .25 :)

We know how that ended up.

I've been trying to allow Linux into my life for specifically this reason. My problem is that even if I could get to the point where I'm comfortable enough with my settings to run KSP, my issue remains that I want it be able to record videos of my gameplay, and I simply cannot replicate my windows recording environment in Linux, Virtual Audio Cable being a major component of that. I have no problem recording in Linux and editing / posting in Windows, but this is getting ridiculous.

Does anyone have any info on if Win64 will ever be a viable option again? 0.24.2x64 was passable at least, though yes, I recognize that i was a silent and unhelpful minority who refused to flood modmakers with 64-bit help requests. I don't blame modders like ferram4 for affirmatively disabling Win64 play. Still sucks though.

  • 3 weeks later...

The x64 crash is weird and seems to appear randomly,I've been playing with x64 since weeks without any problems,I could be playing 6h non stop easily, now I can barely hold 5 minutes, since this times I've removed some mods and created a new save,so I really doubt it's caused by an out of memory error, this is mostly noticeable because sometimes I crash while just flying a probe in orbit, and that usualy doesn't crash the game, unlike loading,or going in the VAB,so this crash is really really weird, let's hope that the win x64 0.90 version will be stable...
