I haven't done any testing, but I expect 0.5.2 will not due to gui changes. However, I won't neglect it :)

I tried it out last night on v1.1.0, and it did not seem to work. Having enabled it, then dragging the Kerbal into position in the direction/orientation I wanted to go, as soon as I hit the thrust the Kerbal snapped back into the 'north up' orientation.

I just installed it, along with a few other mods, and I'm getting an "Incompatible Mod Detected" message. I uninstalled all of the mods, and then reinstalled just this mod ... I got the message again. I think there's an issue.

I'm running Win8.1 on an ASUS with Intel i7, 64k version of KSP, science game.

Edit: Happy Golden Week to you... enjoy.

I loaded this up in Pre1.2, and while it gives a 'warning' that the mod is not compatible, it does work. Thankfully. ^_^

Actually, it's completely redundant. FreeEVA's functionality is now stock: kerbal SAS (toggling SAS when flying a kerbal now toggles the same flag FreeEVA does).

Taniwha,

Any chance you might consider adding the ability to control thrust on EVA to this now that the core functionality is in stock?  This is very convenient for orbital construction as it's much easier to completely zero out the kerbal's velocity with lower thrust. There was another mod which did this but that mod's author has been MIA since May. I also wouldn't object if this was added to stock at some point. Control could be through right-clicking the Kerbal or by manipulating the thrust indicator on the nav ball.
