[Proposal] Open Perks System + Community Perks Pack

Hey guys, just dropping by to say that the project is not dead, just crawling very very slowly as I have a lot to do irl.

The code lives on this repo: I am approaching a first usable back-end (no GUI at all) and I did not implement Perk Points yet. On the subject, I am starting to wonder how necessary they are - "handwaving", RoverDude docet. So I'm asking for feedback: how necessary do we think that it is for the user to interact with the tree just like in Skyrim (i.e, you have a bunch of perk points and you can use them to unlock new perks) as opposed to leaving the mod completely responsible for unlocking perks (i.e, the user cannot choose at all and the perks are unlocked only through code).

If it's not to much trouble, I think perk points should stay. Allowing for player choice is always a good thing. I only have vague aspirations of what I'd like to do with this system. So if it is to much trouble, I could do without.

Basically, I'm going to attempt to build my vision of KXP. More of an RPG like system (which was so aggressively opposed by the community). I still think there's some merit to such a system.

No problem. Really, I just want a way to define classes and have them gain perks with progression. Points aren't completely needed for that. If the implementation is getting crazy, I'd have no problem with you dropping the points.

It's not the implementation, it's the time to do it... :'(

What about an alpha without the points? ...or would their integration need to be hard coded from the beginning?

Looking at your code reminded me how out of practice I am. Whatever you decide, I appreciate the work your putting in. Without modders, this game would be nearly as enjoyable.

No, they can easily be added later. However, what would be definitely missing would be a proper GUI to at least show the trees and the progress in the trees, and that's something I have pretty much no clue how to make right now :/
