For ScanSat, Sigma Dimensions rescales the best alt and max alt by the Rescale Value. Then KScale64 scales the Max Alt by 1 but the Best Alt by 1.33.

For the SAR Scanner this results in the following code, which means we can never reach the "best altitude".

max_alt = 5120000
best_alt = 6384000

Perhaps just remove the ScanSat patch completely since Sigma Dimensions handles this already with the "Resize" parameter?

This was the case for the old OPM patch for 64k.  It applied values that Sigma already did basically adding another multiple (it was effectively made obsolete).  Thanks for this I was just about to deploy my first scanner.

NOTE:  For anyone using Deadly Re-entry with Kscale along with the RO-lite physics configs make sure to delete the DR compatibility patch.  It severely reduces your heat shield temp tolerances preventing their use from Munar or IP velocities.  Removed, my heat shields survived but it was harrowing! (which is how it should be)  With the patch my shield exploded within 5 seconds of atmospheric interface.

Question:  Were monuments previously visible in Kscale64/64k?  I thought they were all buried in plus-sized systems.  Then I saw this.  Does this mean that other eggs, arches and such, are no longer buried?

In my 1.1.2 game the monoliths are MIA, but the pyramids, second KSC. Armstrong's monument and at least one Munar arch are above ground.

Sorry reply to an old post, think I've figured this out  (EDIT).

Does anyone have any ground station configs?  I'd like to add a few more but I can work with one.

Like this?

I slapped down a number of stations on the side near KSC, where they'd be useful for early satellite launches, with a much sparser selection farther away. I was trying for a good balance between having enough stations to be able to get by before getting a satellite network up, but not enough coverage that building one wasn't worthwhile. Also - BACK UP your campaign and existing RT config files somewhere before diddling around with them, I take no responsibility if you don't and things get screwed up!!!

That said, here's the station entries for all my groundstations, including KSC;

Ooo I may have to switch to this because I just have the bare-bones 3 stations that somebody dropped for me.  I use Orbital Decay/Kerbalism as well so it's been hell keeping even a basic equatorial com network up (they degrade fast in Kerbalism especially early on).

I'll see if my (very stable, very backed-up) save can handle it, if not I'll file this away for my next career. :)

After trying a few times to get this to work, I realized that the OP and installation instructions do not tell you that you must install Kopernicus and Sigma independently. Shouldn't they be listed as dependencies in the OP?

May I ask what's the altitude of the GSO orbit of the rescaled kerbin

I have a couple of different numbers, taken from the forums, but they changed slightly between versions of KSP or the particular 6.4x rescale mod of the time. I'm not an astrophysist or a mathematician, but I will take a stab at it. I put the formula below.

I personally play with Kerbin set to 24 hour day, so I worked out the figures for an 86,400 second orbital period (=24 hours). Assuming the numbers from the the in-game Kerbin parameters window are accurate, the orbital radius would be 30,119,322.5 metres. The window also states Kerbin has a radius of 3,840 kilometres, so the orbital altitude would be 26,279,322,5 metres. That that number is pretty close to the SMA for the geosynchronous orbits in my current career save, but I am playing 1.1.2 right now, hopefully it didn't change for 1.1.3.

For the (default?) 12 hour day, if my calculations are correct, the orbital altitude should be 15,133,984.2 metres.

For anyone who wants to work out other orbital periods, or check my math the formula is...

r^3 = t^2 * GM / 4 * Pi^2

where...

r    is the orbital radius in metres   <-- subtract the planetary radius (first line in each planet's/moon physical parametres window) in metres to get the orbital height

t    is the orbital period in seconds you want to achieve

GM is the graviational constant   <-- 4th line in the physical parametres window

Pi is 3.14159265 ....if you need more digits, google it

I hope that helps. I'm also really hoping I got the math right, otherwise I'll look like a fool :lol:

I'm having tons of fun playing a (massively modded) 6.4x campaign based on SETI + RF. However, currently I am struggling with reentry. All attempts using SMURFF (Pod lever 0.5) and Realheat have failed and the Mk1 Pod burns through all 100 ablator fairly quickly (in a 150km ap, 45 km pe reentry). Are there any ways to check if this is normal? Do you have any suggestions?

Besides this - thank you for making 6.4x it certainly feels "right" and re started my interest in KSP!

cheers

@paravatar I've decided to increase amount of ablator in heatshiels. I use more shallow entry path then in stock game (with periapsis at 42 km). Also I've installed FAR, which helped a lot. With those changes I have no problem with direct reentry from Mun.

@HoveringKiller I've installed both mods via CKAN and they are workig just fine.

In my 1.1.2 game the monoliths are MIA, but the pyramids, second KSC. Armstrong's monument and at least one Munar arch are above ground.

Well I upgraded to 1.1.3, newest versions of Sigma and all other mods and low and behold, first thing I notice from the KSC scene is a monolith of in the distance. Me so happy! :lol:

Now to reinstall the anomaly survey contract pack...

Is there a way I can change the atmospheric shock heating effects? As you end up travelling faster during the lower atmosphere, you get the effects on the way up. I'm hoping theres a way I can lower this.

Will this work with saves currently in progress (i.e. scale all the orbits correctly etc.) or do I have to restart the game? I am aware that some of my current ships would now be inadequate, but I can deal with that, I'm just more worried about current satellites and stations.

Having done this on accident before, but in the other direction, I would not recommend it. Even if everything held the same relative position with regards to a surface (altitude), nothing would have remotely enough energy (speed) to stay up.

More realistically, I don't even expect that much, with either the existing bodies being thrown into Kerbol orbit/space, and/or spawning deep inside the/a body.

But, you can always back up your save and give it a go. As long as a save isn't loaded with a rescale, you can remove said rescale and continue on with the backup save.

But do make sure to back it up first! :D

Well , hey people , i have a problem with scatterer's sunflare and i think 64k is the reason why is it breaking (since it also increases the size of the sun by 6.4) , the sunflare actually works , but it show up as a really small dot inside the vanilla sun that is now huuuge. Can someone help me with this?
