[Request] A Comet

Hi,

Small White asteroid + white smoke trail (i.e. from a engine) + the logic that makes solar cells track (i.e. to point the tail away from the sun) = Comet

Added bonus would be a biome so that science could be collected.

Anyone interested ? It would be a great add-on IMO

In a mod a long time ago, there was a comet. It didn't use smoke effects, had much better visuals. It was amazing. Sadly, I haven't seen it since, though I've been hunting for it. If I find that old mod again, and the license ofit permits, I may pull that code out.

Was it this mod? It changed Bop and Ike into a comet IIRC.

I'm not sure, I think the comet in the one I saw looked different, and didn't turn one planet into the comet or another... it made new ones. *shrug* It's been a long time since I saw it last.

I wonder if anything from EVE could be used to render the corona and tail. I agree that emission effects might not look quite right, but a very long ellipse-shaped cloud layer, moving to simulate the way a comet's tail changes, with a more spheroid cloud layer for the corona, would look lovely.

The problem, of course, is that asteroids are treated as crafts, not worlds, so I don't know if EVE could even be applied to them to make comets....
