I just need a relative idea of what tonnage I need to put into orbit.

From what my Payload is starting to look like several hundred tonnes.

Tell me how much you can get into orbit on an SSTO and I´ll base my spacecraft around that.

I can get anything to orbit if I have to, I just need to know the weight of the payload :) it'll probably be a vertical SSTO... I expect anything under 200 tonnes payload should be possible...

Ok, I´ll see what i can do.

what should the payload be capable of (besides grabbing the asteroid obviously), and should it be manned or unmanned? How much Delta-V are we talking on the travel stage?

Redirecting an bigger asteroid from hyperbolic orbit around Kerbin. Unmanned is okay, I think.

Was haltet ihr davon?

Hey zekes have you made any progress on Test 1 by any chance?

Oh, nah, i think it's fine without a cargo bay. It's good the way it is.

Plus, I'm not sure it could carry much cargo... but i have a dedicated cargo shop:

This is the HORIZONTWAL, a winged veriant of the WAL I VTOL. It is 138 tonnes, uses less fuel, but can carry a 100 tonne payload 2400 kilometers. I'm 99% done, one more test flight and it will be ready.

  • 2 weeks later...
I agree, he´s been inactive (on this thread) for nearly a month now.

I could do it, but he said he was experienced at it, so i figured I'd let him, but since he's inactive I guess I'll just do it soon :P Probably over December break, if not before.

I´d say we leave it for now, but if he doesn´t reply in the next week or so I think we should go ahead.

My lifter makes progress

my first (-don't laught-) succesfull duna mission (playing ksp since 0.15)

2 Staged with lander that is capable to reorbit duna and come back with the transfer module

at the moment it has 340 parts and need some improvements to be final but this "beta" work fine
