As far as a filter mechanism goes. I agree this is a very good idea. I do suggest we wait out for a while before asking for this to be implemented. There is a bigger change that needs finished off first.

Actually, that's not true. Fuzzy versioning has not yet been implemented. The mods that list as compatible for 1.05 but have "Max KSP" showing lower than 1.0.5 are all showing the max KSP version from an earlier version of the mod (you'll see it in the details tab). This is due to a bug in how that column is populated, where it sees the version at the bottom of an alphabetically sorted list of .ckan files as the latest version, which means any time a mod author adds a level of versioning, the order gets thrown out, because "blah.1.ckan" is sorted before "blah.ckan".

When the respective mod authors release the updated versions. CKAN does not make pre-release versions available to users.

EDIT: So I noticed that the error mentions KER, which is showing as incompatible. I uninstalled KER. Now it throws an error about CooRockets instead. But remember, I'm clicking on Planetshine, so I have no idea why it's erroring out based on these other mods, just by clicking on the checkboxes.

CoolRockets is also incompatible with KSP1.0.5. Are you doing a .ckan import from a previous 1.0.4 install or something? I suspect that Planetshine is not important in this error. There's some underlying issue that just happens to get triggered. If the CKAN programmers are going to do anything to work out what the unhandled exception is (so that they can write some code to handle it), you're going to need to be very precise about exactly what you've done leading up to this, because simply installing Planetshine doesn't do it, and the references to KER and CoolRockets may well be diagnostic.

Having problems getting it to work in a 1.0.4 build. I am looking at some "exotic" version numbering system by CKAN standards. Has the CKAN bot got lost again tying to figure them out?  

It appears that you can only use Low Res with KSP up to 1.0.4, and only High Res for 1.0.5. Not sure why that happened, but that's what CKAN's metadata is currently set to.

The steps are unfortunately a little nebulous, but here's what's happened:

1. Been running CKAN for several KSP versions now, updating mods whenever it reports them as updatable.

2. Planetshine showed up as having a new update. Tried to click the checkbox to add it to the list to upgrade.

3. CKAN throws those errors, even though they pertain to other mods that are installed, but I'm not clicking on them or updating them. These mods are not listed as currently compatible, but they're already installed by CKAN previous to the 1.0.5 update, and I'm not attempting to update them.

 

The error pops up as soon as I click the checkboxes for the two PlanetShine packages to update their versions, or now to re-install them. The checkbox appears to be checked if I hit "continue" on the error, however PlanetShine still doesn't actually get added to the list, and doesn't update. I can update any other mod that shows an available update under 1.0.5 (so far) without the same thing happening.

I have no further help, I'm afraid, other than to hope that @pjf or some other CKAN coder can have a look, but have you tried running a "ckan clean" on your install?

For anyone wanting to upgrade to the pre-release Trajectories version, I've made a file for CKAN stock aero users to upgrade to the new version that should work fine with future upgrades. File-> Install from .ckan should add the data. If you've got the previous version installed thanks to an earlier KSP, you'll need to upgrade as a second step.

  • [NetKAN] netkan.exe now has much better support for Jenkins CI servers, allowing full automation. (dbent)

Notes

  • Windows users must have .NET 4.5 installed.
  • Linux users, please oh please apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev (Debian/Ubuntu/Mint) or yum install libcurl-devel (RedHat/Fedora) if you have not already done so.
  • Mac/Linux/Mono users: please mozroots --import --ask-remove if you're a new user, to update mono's certificate store.

Edit: While this release contains the internal framework to allow for strict and disabled version checking (an oft-requested feature), we haven't built the user interface to switch between them yet. Look out for that in the next release! :)

We really really shouldn't be throwing errors when you're trying to install unrelated files. Thank you so much for reporting this!

It seems that CKAN does not install B9 procedural wings properly. Instalation goes fine, at first sight there is no issues, however, installed files are different than latest suported from crzyrndm.

Latest patch can be found on this github link. Install process have probably messed up because mod author is apsent for some time and other supportive moders from community update this trough unofficial chanels. CKAN at least should put some warning about it, otherwise we will have another wave of false bug reports.

Hmm. Looks like someone has applied metadata for the fork to the original. We should probably just have crzyrndm's fork as a separate mod.

Nope, I'm wrong, never mind. That said, Crzyrndm's updates *are* with bac9's permission and the last bac9 update to the mod uses Crzyrndm's code, so I would vote for just re-targeting the netkan to the fork.

That would completely mess with the version numbering. Better to have the fork as a separate mod that conflicts with the original.

Try to run KSP at least once before you run CKAN, after fresh install. I think that CKAN search for readme, or some similar file from where it can read proper KSP version number or something. I don't recall exact file name or what kind of info need to be in it. When you run KSP for the first time after fresh install, it create setings file and maybe something else too, but whatever it creates it prevents crashing CKAN after that.

I just upgraded ContractConfigurator and now, when I type `ckan list` in Terminal, I get this: 

* ContractConfigurator 1.9.0

I expected this instead: 

- ContractConfigurator 1.9.0

So what’s the asterisk mean?

Have you tried using "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program" (with quotes around it to escape the spaces)?

You can follow the homepage link when available to read the mod's forum thread, and look at the Relationships tab to see which mods it has known conflicts with. The relationship info is often only stored in one direction, though, so the mod you're looking at may be listed as a conflict on a mod you already have installed, without having its own conflict relationship to that mod. Also, there's no metadata stored in CKAN explaining _why_ particular mods are incompatible or a particular version of a mod is not compatible for a version of KSP.

NEVER MIND I was doing something wrong. Though having an "apply" button with a big green check at the top of the screen caused me to miss the unadorned "Apply" button at the bottom of the screen, which I don't think was totally 100% my fault.

I may need my answer in captain dummy speak. Just forewarning you. One thing for sure, I have .net 4.5 or newer. Microsoft said so.

I made a fresh install of KSP in d:\ksp_105\

I downloaded ckan.exe and without an indication of where to put it, put it in d:\ksp_105\gamedata\

I ran it, and it loaded. I selected the above directory and it seemed to be happy with the choice. I clicked a bunch of check boxes next to mods to install them.

I clicked "Apply" and it went to a tab that showed all the things I had clicked check boxes on as "intsalled." I saw no option to actually do this install, but it all happened very quickly and I was suspicious. So, I checked the gamedata folder itself and sure enough, there were no files in it but the ckan.exe I had placed there and the Squad folder.

Well, I thought, maybe I need to start KSP. So I did so. It started up a perfectly vanilla version of the game.

Well, I thought, maybe I need to exit from CKAN and it'll apply the changes on exit. No go. It just exited.

I loaded it again, and all the mods I had previously selected were unchecked and nothing was shown in the "installed" tab.

I'm sure it's me. It's always me. Also, I've never ever used this before so the chances I've stumbled upon a bug are far outweighed by my just missing something that is obvious to not me. So, what am I doing wrong?
