New Mk3 Parts Partially Unveiled

In the event that .90 does not include a Mk 3 cargo bay, you can bet pounds to pence that there'll be a mod providing a stockalike one within a week or two anyway. Add that, no need to bring in other parts, and done.

Personally what I want is decent bay dividers/ends for both sizes. The drone core isn't great because it's got spaces in it, and everything else is quite long. It makes it hard to put a bay at the very front or very rear of your craft.

Would it be also possible to add mk2 and mk3 decouplers? It's missing in both B9 and stock mk2 and I need them really badly for safety ejection systems. Or if there is a mod for it would be enough I guess but stock is always better.

Even without cargo bays, you have to admit the adaptors will be extremely useful for integrating space planes into launch vehicles. Heck, I'd love to use the new MKIII just as a command module for my more epic interplanetary missions.

I definitely approve those new Mk3 parts, can't wait for the update!!!

Concerning the cargobay/landing gear discussion, I can understand both perspectives though personally would love to see these parts included in the next update even if that would result in a slight delay... However, if they wont make it in time ill be flying some heavy duty fuel planes to orbit and I'm sure it wouldn't take long before we'd have the extra parts.

FYI, here are Maxmaps recent tweets on the matter (the image was posted in the latest devnote thread):

Fingers crossed :)

I guess most of that earlier bickering about the bays was for nothing then! :P But I was more concerned anyways for the landing gears. Not having them is like having to use the tiny toothpick landing legs on a huge lander or base. Not only is it very unstable, but it looks downright ridiculous.

I really hope there is an IVA view that isn't just a solid piece of metal where the windows should be. Also add one for the Inline MK1 please.

You mean the round Mk2? Sam hall has a mod that adds an IVA for it. It hasn't been updated since .22, but it works perfectly fine.

I... I just don't get the ALL OR NOTHING! mindset... W.. why? It's Early Access... If you want everything, all at once, why.. why for the love of pete, play early access games?!

It's not so much "all or nothing" as "don't rush the release, if adding the cargo bays only delays things by a week or two then take your time and get them in".

dear lord you'd think by some people's reactions here that the presence or absence of cargo bays is going to decide the fate of the geopolitical balance in the middle east and eastern europe

Sadly, it will. Heres how*:

No cargo bays = Squad not accomplishing their goals for the release

Squad not accomplishing their goals for the release = no bananas for them! Bad codemonkeys, Bad!

No bananas for them! = Reduced banana importation from Latin America

Reduced banana importation from Latin America = South American economy crashing

South American economy crashing = Russian loans defaulting

Russian loans defaulting = Russian economic crisis

Russian economic crisis = oil prices destabilizing

Oil prices destabilizing = geopolitical balance in the middle east and eastern europe unbalancing

Geopolitical balance in the middle east and eastern europe unbalancing = world chaos = cats and dogs, living together!

So you see, Squad has to have cargo bays for .90 in order to avoid world catastrophe!

I like the look of the new parts, I look forward to having them.

The upgrade to the Mk3 cockpit was something I wasn't sure about for a while, but the new one should work well, even for my less conventional use of it as a rover cab.

I can only see one problem with these: how could you possibly build an SSTO? They look pretty heavy. Heavy enough to require huge clusters of rapiers to get it up into orbit. The only reason I can build an SSTO that big is because of the b9 huge sabres. These look like very interesting parts, but would probably require modded engines to be SSTO material.

Challenge accepted.

Moreover, I'll make a VTOL one. Will be very useful for setting outposts and bases on Laythe.

EDIT: So I just closed in on the pics and it seems the adapters have fuel, which something I'm very happy about.

I can't imagine that we won't see at least 1 SSTO with one of those Kerbodyne engines strapped on it's back. *Laughs evilly*
It might not be an SSTO, or even at all capable of orbit, but the last picture in the gallery has a KR-2L.

Hmm... perhaps add a couple of jet engines or RAPIERS on the side and it could be a viable SSTO. Or just replace the back engine with the cluster engines, that would give it some kick.

I've always wanted to make a plane with the engine clusters... *More laughing*

I hope that they have that SSTO engine cluster placement node thingy from B9 included.
