Mechjeb Hyperbolic orbit?

Recommended Posts

Every time i launch a craft now when i try to use advanced planet transfer it says intial orbit cant be hyperbolic and i make a orbit from 80x78 to about 604x602 and i keep adjusting my orbit any idea how to get rid out of a hyperbolic orbit?

Two possibilities spring to mind, because you're clearly not on a hyperbolic trajectory.

#1, you need to clear out a prior maneuver node.

#2, you're trying to use it to transfer to the Mun or Minmus. You need to do a Hohmann transfer for that*. Planetary transfer is between two bodies orbiting a third body (Kerbin and Duna, orbiting the Sun, or Tylo and Laythe orbiting Jool, etc).

*Or something like a bielliptic, etc, but Hohmann transfers are what's programmed into MechJeb.

Thanks for the reply and #1 i don't have any maneuver nodes #2 I've tried to get to All the main body's around the sun. I think it may be a true bug. And iv found that it only does that for me on the advanced planetary transfer, The other one (transfer to planet) works fine.

When you say "advanced planet transfer" you mean the one that generate a porkchop ? While you may have found a bug I doubt it's a simple one, because what you are doing is the most common use for that tool and such a bug would have be found a long time ago.

Can you put your save and log somewhere so I can test ?

It still pops this message up for me, but I haven't seen it really make a difference yet. If what I've read is correct, the warning comes up because your orbit after the initial transfer burn ends up being hyperbolic. I'll let you know if a problem arises but I just ignore the 'hyperbolic' warning when transferring to another world.
