Camera module

Recommended Posts

With the new contracts, specifically the 'observe' missions, I feel we could do with a camera module for our ships. Just something to allow a probe to fulfil the 'crew observation' role so you can send a lightweight ship to Eeloo or somewhere and not have to worry about returning it.

But then it wouldn't be a crew report would it? There's no crew! :P

A camera might be nice for a new kind of experiment though, which could of course be used for visual surveys (perhaps make it so that it's either crew reports/EVA or cameras though, so we don't have to go slapping a camera on the side of a Mun lander or something :))

Also it would be neet in addition to IVA to be able to camera switch to this kind of thing:

To be honest, I hope the current implementation of IVA in general is far from finished - I'd like to be able to move around inside the capsule/station/..., press buttons and so on :)

It would also come in handy for docking and landings.

Docking, I can kind of see; I don't have too much trouble with it as-is, but I know some people do. Landing?! I'm not sure I like the idea of a fixed camera when I'm trying to land on the Mun... or heaven forbid Tylo; It's harder to see slopes...

Not really the kind of part I'm on about, I was thinking purely as an external part that would allow probes to perform observation experiments. If you could look through it though, I'd expect a little more by way of actually having to point it at what you want to observe, rather than just flying roughly over it as we do now.
