The all-stock Crab is a biome science hopper that can cover all the biomes of a planet/moon and return to Kerbin with its ~10K delta V.

Use with your favorite heavy lifter.

The wide base makes it stable on all but steep slopes.

You can visit every biome on a planet/moon, do science in each and return all to Kerbin for max science.

The Crab is good on the Mun, Minmus, Moho, Duna, Ike, Val, Bop, Gilly, Pol, Dres and Eeloo - with enough delta V left to return to Kerbin.

Take just two Kerbals with you and transfer them from the lander cans to the MPL on arrival. Run all the science experiments, do an EVA and collect the data from the experiments within reach of the ladder. Then collect a surface sample and EVA report. Take all the data up to the lower lander can and transfer it into the can and return your Kerbal to the MPL. Clean the experiments. Hop to next biome.

After doing the science at the last biome, transfer the crew to the lander cans, drop the MPL and set sail for Kerbal. Once on course for a landing on Kerbal, drop the legs and deploy the shute.

...or the Mobile Oppression Palace variant is another way to do this...

Has an extra 1K delta V, which can be handy.

This time you:

Run the experiments, doing "Keep Data" for each.

Then EVA and collect the data from each instrument.

Get the science from an EVA report and surface sample too.

Return to the lander can and all the data will be stored in the can.

Detach the used science junior and mystery goo to shed the weight.

Hop off to the next biome.
