Docking ports having some trouble.

Recommended Posts

I kinda need help here. I'm trying to dock a 255t space station into a 250t reactor station. Here are the two ships, the space station also has a docking station on the sr. docking port.

The station:

The reactors:

(KSP Interstellar and Mechjeb are on these. Maybe B9 aerospace.)

They never really dock, tried several methods but I've never been able to dock the two. I tried for 3 hours straight, I need SOME solution. Please help. I don't care if I need cheats(I used them in the launch of the reactors), or anything else, just a solution pl0x.

What have you tried, and can we have some screen shots?

I've tried a slow approach with a docking autopilot, and also a fast, rigourous approach with a rocket engine. I stopped SAS right before the dock as I heard that helps, but I doubt the magnetism of the docking port would be enough to pull a 250t craft. Here are some screenshots. Oh, by the way, the ships only have 4 RCS thrusters.

Can we get some close shots of the docking ports in question? My first instinct is that one of them is installed upside down but I can't tell at all from how small and distant those pics are.

No, they were definitely installed the correct way. The magnetism just doesn't pull it together.

Well, I'd say you look fairly well versed in docking and likely which way the ports should face. From what little I can tell in the pictures, they seem to be pointed the right way.

That being said, you're probably running into the usual docking port woes. Try this thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/78863-FIX-Dock-Undocking-Bug-in-0-23-5

My usual docking port trick might work - this happens sometimes when ports are trying to acquire when you save and reload and they get stuck that way.

F5 to quicksave

open quicksave.sfs in your saves folder after backing it up.

search for "Status = Acquire" - replace it with "Status = Ready" and save

in ksp hold down F9 to reload - with luck your ports are close enough that they should activate the magnetics and dock straightaway.

Yeah, now the magnetism pulls them together but, they still don't dock. I've tried psyper's solution, and they were all set to "ready"

Have you made sure to switch off RCS and SAS on both craft you're trying to dock? This can help sometimes. Once they're both off and they still don't dock try a quick physical timewarp. (Just make sure it's really quick, as collisions tend to happen when doing this)

If none of that works then yea... It's the usual docking port issues. The only way I see around that would be save-editing.

If the magnetics are kicking in then it could be...

^^ This.

Otherwise is there anything blocking the ports? My work blocks imgur so if you posted a screenshot I don't see it - if you haven't can you post it so we can take a look?
