Unless you have specifically chosen to download the x64 version, you should be running the x32 version. The x64 version's executable is called "KSP_x64.exe", so unless you're running that, you're running the x32.

Well, I'm sure somebody will say the obvious answer is by how many crashes do you get. nyuk-nyuk-nyuk.

A more helpful answer is to look in the lower right corner of the main title screen. It tells you the version. If you are playing 64bit it says so. If it doesn't say, then you are playing 32 bit. Or at least mine does since I play 64bit Sandbox.
