Hello everyone,

After updating from KSP 1.2.2 to 1.3.1 I'm having an issue with TextureReplacer and Diverse Kerbal Heads and I don't know what to do. Everytime a Kerbal goes EVA the game crashes. It seems that when I downloaded a couple of mods (using CKAN) y deleted the mod "Diverse Kerbal Heads". I asume installing it again should solve the issue, but when I try to it gives the following error in CKAN:

"Cannot install TextureReplacer, module not available" and the details are the following:

Spoiler

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Can anyone help me with this? I don't have much experience in adding mods manually or checking the dependencies between mods are fullfilled or not.

thanks in advance!

Yes, we can help.  TextureReplacer hasn't been maintained by Shaw for a long, long time now, and the community has really stopped supporting it.  Instead, we have an updated replacement, TextureReplacerReplaced (we're creative-naming geniuses!), by @HaArLiNsH.  Install it instead.  You can find it in CKAN, as well as here:

Yes, I saw this. But I have also spent the last hour reading the thread and am, to be quite honest, intimidated by this (new) mod. From what I've read, there's some coding I will have to do to make it work. And to be quite honest, I have my hands full learning the basics of solar system formation :) I kinda liked the "drop and forget" of the older Texture Replacer mod, that's all...

Yes, I also found TRR quite convoluted which is why I started using Sigma Replacements which is simpler to use and is more modular.

I've never heard of that mod. Is it fairly easy to use?

It’s pretty easy. I added the link into my first response to you. It’s not plug and play, but the syntax makes more sense to me

@Galileo: Thanks - somehow I missed the link the first go-around. I see it now.

Will I have to do any conversions to keep my suits I use in Texture Replacer? I have a dozen or so heads and just as many suits I use. I'd hate to lose all this work...

You can use your suits and texture heads in TRR nearly like you did with TR, just need a little conversion.

Sigma Replacement is great is you just want to change some textures like the skybox or use one other texture for your suits but I don't know if you have the reflections and the "leveled textures" where you can have different textures depending of your kerbal level.

It has “level” suits and allows for choosing many different filtering options so the level is not the only thing that can dictate who gets what. It can be done by name, gender, level, profession, skill, trait and any combination of those. It does not have reflections yet though. However, SR is compatible with TRR and you can always use TRR to supplement the lack of reflections for the time being.

Oh nice, I still haven't really tried it so I have missed that.

Update for 1.4.0: Fixed visor shader and parachutes are placed on spine when switch EVA suit.

Warning! This is not TextureReplacerReplaced, this is original mod update.

Texture Replacer for 1.4.0

So this is getting confusing now... Should I use Texture Replacer, Texture ReplacerReplaced, Sigma Replacements or maybe soon TextureReplacerReplacedReplaced ? :)

I just want an HD skybox instead of the not-so-great stock one...

Thanks for the help !

You use whatever you want to use... you have options. Nothing confusing about that. They all do the same thing, the implementation is just different. But currently SR is not updated for 1.4, as for the others I don’t know. TR is updated obviously, but I don’t know about TRR

I thought Texture Replacer was no longer developed which was the reason for Texture Replacer Replaced. It is getting confusing.

TR is being maintained by RangeMachine but he's not actively adding new stuff. TRR is working on new features. For us coming from older versions where we had a lot of TR stuff it's good to use TR still but if you want cool new features look into TRR

Try the mod. If it worked for you in 1.3.1, what makes you think it will fry your CPU in 1.4.2? It's a plugin for KSP, not a program that will render 8k video. Your CPU is safe. Have you ever heard of another mod in KSP that burns up your CPU? KSP does that all on its own, you don't need a separate mod to do that.

Also, this mod includes ZERO textures. You download those separately.
