My GPU history, as far as I can recall -

1998 - ATI 3D Rage II+ 2MB

2002 - ATI Rage 128 16MB

2003 - ATI Radeon 7500 32MB

2005 - ATI Radeon 9200 128MB

2006 - ATI Radeon x1600 128MB

2010 - Nvidia GeForce 320M 256MB

2011 - AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB (still in use)

2012 - AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB (still in use)

So, I'm almost totally Team Red.

Well right now in my main computer I'm useing a HD 7870 and so far it's the first computer I've built. Before that was some really low end AMD/ATI GPU in a pre-built. I probably going to get the 300 series from AMD when that comes out so mostly red team.

Current main PC is Geforce GT 730, because it's reasonably cheap for the performance you get. Older secondary PC is AMD 3000 series, as was similarly good value back when I built it.

My current desktop started with a Radeon HD 6850, and I recently upgraded to a R9 270.

Pros: Cheap, quiet, runs all the games in my library like a champ!

Cons: Supposedly NVidia is faster, but more expensive.

- Also required (for me at least) a BIOS update, which (sorta) broke my Windows install.

I've been mostly Nvidia since then on the desktop, though a lot of my laptops have had some variant of ATI.

BTW, even though Nvidia wins the outright performance race right now, AMD still has a lot of advanced technology on offer, namely FreeSync (more flexible than G-Sync), CrossFire (more flexible than SLI) Eyefinity (more flexible than Nvidia Surround), Mantle and better OpenCL support.

How's them sour grapes, Green Team?

I'm still using my old-ish 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 4770 (which is ~6 years old). It has proven itself worthy in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and PC games. It's still far enough for most tasks, although it won't run recent games on max graphics (of course). I intend to use it for 1-2 more months, then I'll possibly buy a budget laptop with a yet unknown dedicated video card/"top-end" integrated GPU.

I don't think there is a "best brand" in the GPU industry. When I assembled my computer, the HD 4770 was the best choice (performance/price-wise).

I'm impartial, whatever floats my boat at the time of wanting to upgrade is what I will go for.

Early 2014 I got a 290x due to it being powerful and affordable.

Early 2015 I got two 980s because power efficiency awesomeness with crazy overclocks, while still competing with 780ti.

Both teams have their merits, just pick what you want when you want it.

I've been an Nvidia user since AMD didn't support Linux very well about a decade ago.

I don't use Linux primarily anymore but still use Nvidia. And as I may be switching back to Linux soon, I don't have to worry about whether or not AMD has caught up.

I have an older 670 in my laptop (that is also older), and it runs KSP (and most any other game) just fine.
