Greatest thing I've done so far is my WIP Jool-5 mission... 2 planets down, 3 to go! expecting a MASSIVE return on Science from it
-
Heh, the amount of times I've done That... Quick update from me; Refuel Mission Success, nearly everything topped-off again, but found some odd quirks with some of my landers... turns out anything connected together in-line will have its fuel crossfed to the main engines if crossfeed isn't turned off! >.< Luckily I now have the small tug, which just sips at the fuel it has thanks to the nuke engines, which allowed me to take the Vall lander a lot closer in to do its descent, and made it much easier to ascend to a lower orbit once science was collected from Vall's surface. Yet to rendezvous with the tug again, but 2 down, 3 to go!

It's currently in 'Experminetals' testing phase - they don't usually release the version for reviews until they get first reports back from the testers, then the Experimental phase moves on and more testers get access, sometimes including some of the people you mentioned, but much of the time they are under a NDA to not produce anything before everything has been finalised/major bugs squashed. We also seem to hype overselves up without the need for pictures or video, so although we are all being well-behaved I'm sure many of us are the same - hanging on the edges of our seats looking for any new scrap of official information that gets out!

I think sending refuelling missions is o.k if you get to a certain point and cannot continue without refuelling; pre-empting this need indicates that you are aware of the fuel problem beforehand and should re-design accordingly! Still wishing I hadn't used Skippers on my mothership... still waiting for Ziv to show to answer my question too!

We are not yet sure what the majority of Antimatter in the universe is made up of yet; It could be that there is more floating around between the stars than we would even know what to do with! A strange radio 'signal' was picked up recently from the direction of one of the biggest things in the sky; something in the M82 Galaxy has started giving out radio waves; scientists really don't know what it is, but theories include either a 'microquasar' or possibly some sort of antimatter...

You are not wrong, all sorts of things could go badly meaning one or more much-talked about features could get shelved at the last minute... I really hope not, but it is true, as covered byt the Alpha Disclaimer... I think that it would benefit them to release at least part of what they have sunk so much time into, just to get the community feedback, but working with children, animals and acts of god can really screw up production hehe

"Felipe (HarvesteR): EDITORS NOTE - Felipe is on a personal holiday this week to recharge his batteries after some serious breakneck work to get the game to experimentals for our next update, but we wanted to share a quote from a conversation we had late last week before leaving. “But in a nutshell, yes, 0.24 is going to be released in 64-bit for Windows too.†(ED: We think that’s quite enough from Harv on an off week.)." from here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/84042-Devnote-Tuesdays-The-Back-in-Experimentals-Edition "Hugo (the intern): Finished a couple pieces (OMS Engine and Vernier Engine) for the game. Im now helping Daniel and Rogelio with models for their animations. I just finished a firecracker and I’m currently working on a kitbash of a space rocket. Im excited to see how these things start turning out." and has talked about polishing these and other bits and pieces for the game, first post as intern was here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/81386-Devnote-Tuesdays-The-Forum-Upgrade-Edition "Felipe (HarvesteR): Another week working on Contracts, but we have an end in sight now. Rather than just fill you in on the items from my to-do list though, I’ve written an article about where we are in development. You can check it out HERE." from here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/82731-Devnote-Tuesdays-The-Info-Packed-Edition Funds and Contracts are interlinked, which has been explained as the reason for the long delay for .24 to be released (as they were working on it before .23.5 came along, and have since found that the contracts system alone did not test well in first round of experimentals, so they have been tweaking and adding more...)

2nd refuel mission is good so far; currently in a very eccentric eliptical orbit of Vall awaiting a response from Ziv (or SSSPutnik) as to wether I can switch out my main engines on the mothership for the one currently hauling the fuel, for fuel conservation purposes for the rest of the mission... If no, I think it will still be possible to complete, but may need yet another massive amount of fuel yet! The Skippers are REALLY inefficient for this sort of mission :/

I did lots and lots of things before playing KSP, but from the OP I know that's not quite what was being asked! I've played lots of space games over the years, and a fair few flight sims too, so now I've had some practice I can both fly my spaceplanes and get them into orbit! Of course, most older space games start you off already in space, and flight sims are pretty much all in-atmosphere affairs, working out ascension was the first hurdle I managed to get round, both with rockets and SSTO planes... Then the next hurdle to get over was landing, no matter what I thought, I needed to practice a bit to get it right the planes weren't too bad, as they land similarly to RL planes (tail wheels first...) but landing with rockets was totally new to me...

"SpaceXray - Bottle Rocketeer - Join Date: Jun 2014 - Posts: 22" yeah, you just got here, unless this has been posted on an 'alternate' account... Hell, I only just got here... The game has been in Developement for over 3 years now...

Wow, nice looking mothership so far! a couple of things to point out though: 1) why do you have the intercoolers on the nuke-engines? thought they only worked in-atmsophere for air-breathing engines? and 2) you do know the full Science lab can reset experiments, allowing you to only take one science package that can be attached to any lander and reset once the science has been taken out and stored in the science lab? (sorry for wording on this last one, been another long day!) Best of luck with it all, and if you need any more hints or tips don't be afraid to ask

Well fair enough, I can't find too much fault with this plan Hadn't thought about using SRB's for that (pretty obvious, really ) but sounds like a good plan in principal, you'll have to let us know how it works out Currently nearing the end of the half-hour RL burn time of the current refuel mission, and an idea hit me... as the refueling tankers seem so much more efficient on fuel, would it be o.k to swap out the rediculously inneficient main-engines of my mothership with one of the tankers? should mean no more refuelling trips, the amount I have along with me this time...

Oops, double post >.< stupid 'net... Sorry!
-
Did you steal your name from Markiplier?!
Sorry to be nosy, but when I first noticed your name, I thought it might be him haha!
-
Love 'Space Tycoon' - Just be careful Sid Meir doesn't find out! lol... or whoever owns the copyright on Tycoon series these days... Sorry Whackjob, but in your case I think you should have your own version, which would be the same as everyone elses in every way, but the title on the menu screen should read "Kerbal Space Program: Never Enough Funds"!! ;P

SpaceX OG2 mission challenge.
Cmdr. Arn1e replied to Kerbal01's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
so highest score anyone can get is 38.5, lowest is -75... Sorry, I agree with TechnicalK3rbal, not a very well-thought-out challenge, and very restrictive on the specifications... so you will get lots and lots of people being first, and lots of others being last... until they work out where they went wrong, re-submit then everyone gets into first place... Nice idea, but think it reads more like a 'Show off your Falcon 9 1.1 replicas here' thread, as even with modded parts they will all be very very similar :/ -
SRB's aren't really recommended for landing, as you can't control them as well as liquid-fueled rocket engines... unless you decouple them as you touch down (if they are still going) but this would be very tricky to pull off right without either damaging something or running out of fuel before you finish the suicide burn... just another helpful tip

How The A-Team Created Their Submission
Cmdr. Arn1e replied to ArmchairGravy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Awww, I liked this one the best! and it got my vote... ah well :/ Best of luck in the future if there are any more team challenges! guess you can still take part in the unofficial one -
Be careful you don't over-power as well as over-engineer... I had a LOT of 'fun' trying out various combinations of huge engines, and found the most powerful I could use at full thrust were Skippers... 4 of them. Any more/more powerful, and you are likely to tear stuff apart! ALWAYS use struts! Especially on a ship big enough to go to Jool... Best of luck with the next launch
-
It sounds like you should be good... but yeah, a single land-on-all type lander can cause problems in itself! If only using one lander, then why have the science package as a seperate component of the ship? And last little bit of advice for now; I have found that 'docking adapters' are infinitely useful! simply made once you get the gist, too...
-
And don't forget to factor in aerobraking if you are planning on using it to save some dV... I had some surprises with mine! I'd say, for a test, send a ship with similar mass and fuel/thrust to Jool, see how much fuel you have left... If you have enough for the multiple transfer burns you need to do between the moons, give the mission a go - you can always send more fuel if you *really* need to! One thing everyone loves about this challenge
