Mods plz lock. plz. Uh, yeah. Let's go with that, before I ask the mods to trim the off topic posts. My question for the mods- how do you pronounce "unionized?" Also, how much control does Squad have over the moderation team?
-
Well, yeah. COTS is much cheaper than designing a new part. And anything designed to fit humans will have human specifications in mind. Bearing in mind that we're relatively the same the world over, you could make the wildly outrageous claim that the design of a submarine's center aisle is based on the size of Roman sidewalks. In reality, they're both designed for humans to walk on, so it's quite a gross oversimplification to say that one is based off the other. But the story you linked to a link to is trying to say that the shuttle SRBs are that width because of the Roman chariots. Which is wrong, and also demeans our critical thinking abilities. I mean, honestly, have you seen a train tunnel? They're a lot larger than 4 feet, 8 inches wide.

Oh, are we doing history-music? Here's one of my favorites As the singer says, "every line is true!"

And another brief Google shows it to be white, not red. It looks like it starts out red, and the heat changes the structure to white. http://chemistry.about.com/od/chemistryhowtoguide/ht/smokingfingers.htm https://practicum.melscience.com/experiments/the-conversion-of-red-phosphorus-to-white-phosphorus.html

Check this out: And the fact is also that it happens to be about the size of two horses next to each other. I'm not disagreeing with you here, if you read the Snopes article they say as much. Are you trying to say that the Shuttle SRBs are that size because of the Roman Chariots? I'm confused. I'm not sure where you're from, but in the US all windshields are made out of layered glass. (It used to be tempered, but layered is better). Also, it's kinda a moot point, and is tangential to the OP. I'm curious why you brought it up. Were you trying to find the an example that makes me wrong? It's such an extreme that it's irrelevant. Honestly, it seems like you're trying to contradict me for contradiction's sake.

Not really what I was going for here. Try posting it in Science and Spaceflight. http://www.snopes.com/history/american/gauge.asp

I noticed that too. Updates for KSP have always been free, so it's mildly concerning that they have to stress that now. I hope that it's your first thought, not your second.

Why not just ask them what games they like? And couldn't companies abuse this by putting a bunch of achievements in the early game, which almost everyone will complete? Again, it still seems silly. Also, since I didn't mention it above, I too am really happy that the console players have news, a new release, and a new market.
-
That seems silly.

Why does everyone think KSP is not going well.
Dman979 replied to nascarlaser1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
People who think something is wrong tend to be more vocal than people who think things are going well. -
It wasn't, so thanks for the second part. Huh. No such thing on PC/Mac/Linux. I'm curious as to why Squad put them in. People were doing all those things before the trophies, why add them?
-
Huh? What's that? Also, it looks like even though the Devnotes have been moved to Friday, releases and release announcements are still on Tuesday.
-
Just to give an idea of how big that thread was- it has more posts than all of the Kerbal Network subforum, almost as many as the Technical Support (PC) subforum or Welcome Aboard subforum, and is the second-largest thread viewable outside the Fault Vault, after What did you do in KSP today?.

Not a mod, but I'll take a shot at this. 1. The Number War, based on publicly available data, by most replies. 20612 replies before sal_vager locked it. 2. In addition to what @monstah said, speaking a language other than English fluently is helpful. 3. Monstah is correct. @Cupcake... has 1502 posts and 5 dots, while @RedDwarfIV has 1495 and 4 dots. 4. See Monstah's answer.

Yup. Who actually thinks it would be a good idea to throw boiling water on your frozen windshield? Do the opposite and put an icecube in hot water. It cracks. Don't you think your windshield would do the same thing? I want to see the "Shuttle SRBs are that size because of Roman Chariots" copypasta on here. That would get demolished so quickly.

It should be possible to configure the setup that way, yes. I don't know for certain, though.
-
You've got this thing about bulk things, don'tcha? Also, I now know what the April Fools prank will be.
-
Thank you. Well, that would explain the ridiculously high post count. Must be some really good software if it has over 10k rep!

Anything can be rocket fuel, if you try hard enough. -Dman979, somewhere on the Jool Odyssey thread

You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

I figured that was the case. So then the question is "Did the probe get down to the ocean in 10 seconds, or is the ping something else?" You reason was "If the plot requires them, they're in." Obviously the plot requires them, because they are there. My question wasn't "Why has he suddenly added timestamps?" it was "What is going to happen that requires timestamps as an plot device?" In retrospect, I guess I phrased that badly the first time. As an addendum, I noticed a *ping!* in the frame above Bobak, too. I feel like this has significance, but I don't know how yet.

By studying the past, not imagining what it was like. You make the hypothesis, then you gather evidence, then you refine your hypothesis. The "How are we to know" attitude is a reason that fake news gets spread so quickly nowadays. I mean, my reality's just as valid as yours, right? Wrong. Facts are facts. The ones based on fact are valid. Everything else is a fun thought experiment, nothing more.

Kuzzter, I'm not sure if you're trying to imply that the delay is getting longer because the planets are moving or that they need time to speak. But the delay between the first comms is 187 seconds, and the second is 192. Which leads me to- why did Kuzzter put the timestamps in? Obviously it's a lot of work, and he doesn't leave red herrings swimming around. Is he implying that whatever it is Bobak finds will take about three minutes to get to the Intrepid? It's been about three and a quarter minutes (197 seconds) since the probe entered Laythe's atmosphere. If data takes ~3 minutes to send, it's reasonable to assume that Bobak is looking at the data from it. But that would mean that the data is from the upper atmosphere, not the ocean. Why would Kuzzter show Bobak, and not Sarge, Val, or anyone else on the Intrepid? Could the Kerbulans have uncloaked when they detected the missile launch? Also, why do the time delays on the comms keep going up by 5 seconds? Right now, I'm just asking more questions than I'm answering. But I bet that Bobak is either going to show science or show Kerbulans.
