  1. Yeah, that was the thing that got me into custom planes in general, though at the time my OCD beat me up over the lack of canopy.

[Umm, okay. Uh, somehow this all turned into random posts about copyright law for absolutely no reason. I don't know how to react, so whatever. Set this thread free.]
  4. There is a certain hierarchy within this sparse community of space sims, and I believe that there are certain stereotypes surrounding those who play them. Take a look: 1. "The Proles": "KSP sucks, play Player Unknown's Battlegrounds". 2. SCHOOL: These people are the types who believe you need to go 7000m/s to exit the atmosphere, that a rocket can't enter orbit because it can't fly high enough, that our opportunity to go to Mars is when it's closest to Earth, that black holes "suck" objects into them, etc. Of course, they also think they know more than you about space. 3. KSP unmodded: There is a huge gap crossed between 1 and 2 here. These are people who know how orbits work, how space maneuvers are performed, how several spacecraft systems work, etc. They are nice to talk to, and they know what they are talking about when it comes to space- conversations which usually start with "Dude you also know KSP?! EYYYYYYYYYYY!", followed by an intense feeling of brotherhood and unity, in both graphics engine and social aspects... 4. KSP (realism overhaul): These guys know their stuff, and that "stuff" includes space systems, orbital mechanics, aerodynamics to a basic level, etc. They are starting to genuinely be interested in space travel, and are learning more about it from external sources. 5. Orbiter: The first level of nirvana, so to speak. These people can legitimately create their own spacecrafts with their own characteristics. They have very good knowledge about space travel, supplemented with all the real-life mathematical and physics elements required to advance in the field. 6. GMAT (beginner): These people are starting to get into programming. They study spacecraft in detail, and know every aspect of a mission. 7. GMAT (advanced): Dude, go be an engineer. 8. MATLAB: The demigods of the space community. 9. Full-out programming, <<[OTIS]>>: These people work in NASA. Period. As I see it, I am between stages 3 and 4. So what do you think about this collection of stereotypes?
  5. I don't know what to say about this. Like every person, I am also mesmerized by what some of you call the "instant gratification", absolutely stoked to have a whole new event happen with man in space. Not that I think that's a good way to think about this (it's actually a horrible way to think about Mars colonization and its purposes), but I just wanted to throw that out there. Other than that, here's what I have to say on the more serious reasons that I would want man to settle on Mars. a) Death is, quite literally, the end of all things from the perspective of the one who dies. And to have this end, this total stagnation, come to the human race because we didn't expand our roots where we could is no way to go. Remember what Stephen Hawking said about this issue? How he estimated that the human race has, what, a thousand or so years to sustain itself on Earth? How about no. I believe we should take the chances we have: we can spread through the solar system, not only giving us more scientific knowledge but also having more habitable space for us, a race-wide insurance. And when the CO2 levels reach their threshold, when the last barrel of oil is siphoned from the ground, there won't be a crushing, worldwide calamity. Mars is the first step to this, a mission to perfect our abilities to transport humans through space and do more useful tasks with said humans than just doing a lab experiment in LEO. We will add thousands of years to our existence.

  7. The power that, whenever you blink, a 1cm3 volume of air located at 34.701342"N, 170.920260"E heats up by 1 degree celsius.
  8. What are you talking about? I drive there all the time, and I see no difference!
  9. As it turned out, the charger cable for my laptop was viciously eaten by my rolling chair while I wasn't looking. As in: it became entangled under the chair. So I rolled back in order to reach a certain object, and the computer was pulled off my table. Long story short, it's now completely dysfunctional. Since I can't buy myself a computer, chances are that I won't be playing KSP or anything else for the next few years. Therefore, I may cease to find a use in this forum. This is just a heads up. You guys were a great community.
  10. I can't possibly believe that, 1.0.5 was a long time ago.
  11. Yep. This mod is for 1.0.5. KSP is currently in version 1.3
  12. I've recently started creating civil aircraft: kind of like a fleet of airliners. Are there any cockpits and part mods that can fit this?
  13. "Oh hey, why is this thread pinned? Looks cool, let me click on the link an- LUCY IN THE SKYYYY WITH DIAMONDS!!!"
  14. That will of course be Frantic Disembowelment, by CannibalCorpse. Not that I have any affiliation of that band, nor do I like their music.
  15. "I'M GOING TO TEAR YOUR ________ING EYES OUR, RIP YOUR _______ING FLESH OFF, BEAT YOU TILL YOU'RE JUST A _________ING LIFELESS CARCASS, _____ YOU AND YOUR PROGRESS, WATCH ME _______ING REGRESS, YOU WERE MEANT TO TAKE THE FALL AND NOW YOU'RE NOTHIIIIIIIIIING!!!!! 17. I'll give you some research sources: https://www.merriam-webster.com/ https://www.oxforddictionaries.com/ http://www.ef.com/english-resources/english-grammar/ https://www.grammaropolis.com/ Use them well.
  18. @Boris-Barboris I saw your nickname and already wanted to like your post. Привет, товарищ,
  19. Why the hell are we arguing against ourselves?
  20. I didn't mean that they are dumb. They're stylised, which is also good.
