What are we aiming to see after this?
Matuchkin replied to Matuchkin's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, we already are detecting the CMB. We won't see anything new from it, because it's just a field of radiation left over from the big bang. The only way I can imagine we can see otherwise is if the CMB is radiation from the universe before the big bang, which can explain the formation of the explosion itself. Also: why do you believe that we will not be able to see past the big bang? I mean, sure, the events prior are extremely confusing, but the mere fact that we don't know about them doesn't mean that they are guarded by some visual barrier. P.S: I understand that the big bang is not considered to be an explosion, rather being called an "expansion". That is, however, just a subject of our educated speculations, so it's perfectly reasonable to assume otherwise. -
Stryker and Sidekick lunar VTOL craft
Matuchkin replied to Jett_Quasar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
@Jett_Quasar, if you can get the Stryker into orbit via a plane, why not do the same with the Sidekick? It's more logical, economic, and cool at the same time. -
What are we aiming to see after this?
Matuchkin replied to Matuchkin's topic in Science & Spaceflight
literally, just look at a farther distance. The light from that galaxy spent 13 billion years coming our way, so we are essentially seeing an object as it was 13 billion years ago (of course, the actual galaxy has moved over time). If we manage to look 400,000,000 light years beyond that galaxy, we would be looking at a time that was very close or at the beginning of the universe. See above. Sorry that I missed that. -
The farthest galaxy ever viewed by us, GN-z11, is 13.4 billion light years away from us. This means that if we look another 400,000,000ly behind it we will see the universe (or that exact piece of universe) when the big bang occurred. What can we gain from this? We will probably not see any more galaxies or activity behind GN-z11, but what else can we achieve by looking at that part of space?

Launch a kerbal into orbit
Matuchkin replied to RavenpawKSP's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
This is possibly one of the most basic parts of the game, that is pretty much carried out every time a space mission occurs. This is not a legitimate challenge. That is absolutely, unquestionably impossible. I recommend that you download/ buy KSP before posting any challenges. -
I admit this is a very cool post, and an even better effort at that, but do you have any idea how much Elon Musk had to work to get SpaceX at least some importance in the aerospace industry? I think this is impossible.

So now we have a car that actually looks like a car. This is getting interesting.

The Official Realism Overhaul Craft Repository.

Looks smooth. Why do you need to put the craft in such a high orbit? -
New planet
Matuchkin replied to The Thyroid Man's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I would like a very small asteroid/ planetoid in a very elliptical orbit around Kerbol, that takes it far beyond the system and lasts hundreds of years. -
Can we talk about simplicity?
Matuchkin replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This is a great idea. If we can get all parts to be a similar shade, not put so many trinkets on their exteriors, remove edges, rails and borders, we can make a great set of parts that look good in any configuration. I'm all for that. If only we had porkjet. -

Indeed. When RO gets updated. -
But how, though? @ferram4, how does FAR work? Is it a fluid model, a combination of pressures acting on your plane, or what? I know next to nothing about computer programming, so please excuse the question if it turns out to be absurd.

Ha! I'm such a rebel.

I see the design creativity here- not only is it a plane, but it can also be used as a washroom in case you are stranded or your trip is long. Great concept. -
Can't you just enter into a close quasi-orbit and call it a day?

The thing is, I'm trying to find a place where I can give developer suggestions. That's exactly what I'll tell them. Not sure how, though- seriously, they did a good job on it, but they really gotta make this more user-friendly and focus a bit less on realism or graphics. I'd say, remove some aspects of the physics engine and drop the whole concept of "politics", it seems to be glitchy and makes this too complicated. Then remove several parts of the RAM-heavy education system, and perhaps tone down some of the survival mechanics. Perhaps we can also remove the over-complex economic system- a simple "buy/sell" system would work just fine. Perhaps implement a respawning system? You know, make the game more friendly and simple.

Man, this brings me back to the time when I installed life, while sitting in the VAB a few years ago. Apparently it's the oldest game ever. Of course, I get bored sometimes. Well, anyways, I would like to continue my School Homework miniseries, but fun has to wait- I have a rocket to design.

Oh, so the parts themselves don't use tweakscale? That is awesome. You deserve rep.

So this is all stock+ tweakscale? I see very creative usage of parts here, and the cool thing is that these parts actually look very much like their real life counterparts.
