Reviewing footage with my "armchair flight director" hat on, It looks like something went bad on the second stage. First stage engines were burning, then white cloud, then what LOOKS like Dragon 'aborting'(AKA, falling off? Deff a Dragon-looking piece of debris). Continued burn of first stage, then an 'explosion'.

Any chance all the liqOx vented/blew out, and vehicle self destructed/was ripped apart? Didn't look like an engine issue to me, they kept firing even after the initial plumes.
-
I also noted what looked like RCS need the start of pitch, but didn't think a ton about it... Cargo's trashed man. What does this mean for future ISS deliveries? Only Russia can take stuff up there now till SpaceX figures out what went wrong!
-
I'm sitting here almost crying, I can't imagine how Elon is feeling ;(
-
What just happened???
-
SpaceX has added speed/altitude readouts, the KSP nerd inside me gave a kick of joy.
-
SpaceX, I feel like we have a slightly better chance of hearing the status of the booster on there if anything good happens. T-2min!
-
Ohhh, SpaceX has added some nice UI features, had a list for viewers during terminal count. Liking it!
-
I just saw that as well, but didn't know if it was new or if I was blind
-
SpaceX stream up, no KSP music so far

Third times the charm?(In terms of actually going for the barge, not just a controlled drop into the drink). Super pumped! I'll bet tensions over in ULA are pretty high right about now...
-
From an engineering standpoint, how big an issue is this? Are the engines not performing as expected? Is there an issue/design flaw that wasn't addressed?
-
Mmmmm... I got me a new screen saver. Someone mind reminding me exactly how the flight abort test is going to run? Will it be on a 'dummy' rocket, strapped to the pad, on a rocket lifting off, or just sitting by itself on the pad?
-
I can do the first one extensively I do notice that in map mode, I'm pretty lag free, but in ship or IVA mode is when the lag hits. I didn't even think about the resolution... I think I jacked mine up as high as possible. Thank you! I'll ajust my settings accordingly.

Anyone know what the bare minimum graphical settings are for KSP? My (very old and never strong to start with) machine has laggy issues when trying to play for extended periods, so I like to keep its workload as low as possible. I've done the obvious stuff like lowering terrain detail, persistent debris, building simple rockets, ect, but what are some of those other options? V-sync? anti-atlasing? What on earth do they do, and what should I set them all at for minimum load?

Love how that lava mixes with the ice caps... -
Adding chutes of any size puts you at the mercy of wind, as well as adding weight(which results in less DV). Chutes also need to be inspected and repacked, engines just need more fuel(speaking very simply here). SpaceX's motto with these has been precision, precision, precision. The Dragon V2 will not land with chutes if all goes well, its to be a fully propulsive landing. The chutes are only there if something goes wrong, as a failsafe.

SpaceX after they land their first stage?

I think this pretty much sums up my feelings. Elon is no fool. If he thinks he can do cheaper, achieve bigger margins, or do something better/faster, then I'm not going to stand in his way. That being said, he runs a business(several of them actually). There are REASONS that he is doing what he is doing, and he is not the type to foolishly pursue an idea if it doesn't hold any prospect of benefits for his company. He is not going to put into effect one of his ideas unless he has fully vetted and understood its impacts and potential. Godspeed Elon. The world is watching. -
Blocked here in the US as well, a quick google tells me that SME is Sony Music entertainment. So basically copyright infringement of Uptown Funk.
-
After the last two times JRtI has been out and hit(by waves or rockets), I have little fear for it... Great video this time, much better quality as well

I'm going to say that the leg is lowered. Otherwise it would just be more soot, not a fresh surface(as the legs were only just lowered). I think I can also make out one of the 'support lines' running from the leg back to the fuel tank as well. Besides, the rocket doesn't even seem to fall the right way if that was a leg that didn't deploy, judging from the vid it fell over one of the sides, while the leg in question is towards the front/back(I think anyway, its hard to tell for sure).

I'm just sitting here, watching those seven seconds over and over and over and over and over and over and over.... Glorious.
-
I don't think the Turk sat allows for a landing attempt, think the inclination is wrong.

Darn Kerbal Engineer, never can trust its suicide burn calculations...

Solar arrays deployed. Dragon looks golden, webcast ending
