The post-first orbit leap ahead didn't really come quickly for me, unfortunately. I think it was a combination of poor upgrade planning (balancing build rate with research) and a lot of launch failures. And avionics sizes (I'm trying to go with mostly procedural avionics and the minimum size is pretty constraining). Speaking of launch failures... (Disclaimer, I forgot which launches were for which contracts, it's been a while) Notebook Space Program - 1958 Y'all like explosions?

Oh, you haven't seen anything yet! They get crazier for a bit until I unlock proper fairings and larger diameter parts, then the craziness comes back down to acceptable levels.

@Norcalplanner I've added your '52 to the spreadsheet, I'm a bit behind on that, though, I should hopefully update it soon, but I'm going to post my '57 now. Notebook Space Program - 1957

Notebook Space Program: Days 67-100 Yes it was an eventful stretch of time, but I couldn't really choose a good spot to split it up. Also, there will be a significant increase in flight rate starting right about now. Also, @KerbalKore my flag is based on the stock KerbinMunFlag which you are using! I approve of your taste!

Also the unburned fuel acts as a coolant, keeping engine temperatures a bit lower. -

I really hope we don't lose more starship hardware to wind... -
I'm the furthest ahead rn, and I have played many years beyond that, so I also don't want to get too far ahead. Do what you want though. I might post 57 soon though.

In case of reactor failure. Or maybe they launch the fuel separately in special super safe containers on the safest rocket they can find. The ship would need some power in the meantime. -

By that time I suspect we will have Raptor 2 or something. Maybe even another engine entirely. Gonna have to dig out the list of falcons again. -

Wow. October... We haven't even seen full fins or landing gear yet! With an orbital attempt "shortly thereafter" I can't imagine that Super Heavy will be ready in time - that's 3x as many raptors as they have produced so far. That means that Starship should be able to SSTO maybe? I can't imagine they would just yeet a test article into orbit and not try to bring it back, and I can't imagine it has enough margin to SSTO and then land... But then again given how Starship development has gone, I wouldn't be surprised if either happened. And where are they going to launch it from? That dinky concrete slab in Boca Chica? -

Holy guacamole, an 18 meter beast? ITS was supposed to do 450 tons in 12 meters IIRC. This is going to be a BEAST assuming it happens. I don't know how one would estimate payload mass, but that number has to be astonishingly high. -
